So, how we all feeling about the return of masks? Personally it makes no difference to me. I am glad that we no longer have Hancock leading, can you see the difference in competency and decision making?! Love an interrobang !? 👍😀

Hancock just tows the party line tho, there are an endless stream of lemmings behind him. Defo takes a lot more bottle to wear a mask than not wear one, it's become a pathetic symbol of freedom hasn't it.

No problem with me, should never have been voluntary on public transport in the first place as it sent out mixed messages. Should have still been in force through this winter.

Boris Johnson says no Covid rules were broken after reports Christmas parties were held in Downing Street at the height of last year's lockdown. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer accused the PM of hypocrisy for flouting the rules he had ordered the rest of the country to follow. It follows a Mirror newspaper report of drinks parties and quizzes in November and December last year. The prime minister did not deny parties had taken place. But he said "all guidance was followed completely". www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59491568

Imagine how insufferable that party would have been. Makes you glad to be only a piece of sh1t on their shoe really.

Oh well that's a second year we've cancelled plans to go back to the UK for Christmas. What a joke this test for travel is. For my wife and I this is what we were faced with....
2 x €50 PCR tests in France 2 x £79 Day 2 PCR tests in the UK 2 x £169 PCR tests to return to France
Would need same day result PCR tests on 27th before returning to France to guarantee being on the eurotunnel for early morning 28th hence the costs)
So a 10 day trip would cost near on £600 in tests...What a rip off.

Sorry to hear that FG. I do have a couple of questions though: Where are you spending £79 per PCR test in the UK? Its cheaper than that. Can you not move your train to the 28th to allow for the PCR tests? On top of that to enter the UK you only need lateral flow/antigen tests, which will be cheaper and faster results. It's also the same for entering France, meaning you can take an antigen for a fraction of the cost and get results immediately? Don't cancel your travel yet old boy, you can halve that cost easily - although, its still a decent sum.

Hi Gassy we were looking to do the PCR tests immediately we got off the train in Boots Ashford. Yes you can get cheaper home tests but theres so many reports of the drop boxes full to the brim and not being picked up on a regular basis and people not receiving their test results so decided to do the test supervised in store. Unfortunately we can't change the time of the train as we need to be back the night of the 28th. 9hr drive from Calais. Was looking on line for lateral flow test to return to France in Bournemouth but they all stated 24 or 48 hours. Couldn't take the risk that results wouldn't be back by the time we got to the train station, hence having to do a PCR test with a 4 hour wait time (price a total d?rip off). I thought the regulations had changed for entering the UK that everyone entering the UK had to now have a PCR test by day 2 and isolate until you receive a negative result.

I think the problem is now that everyone has to wait until the day 2 test result, the reality is you probably wont receive it until at least a few days later. In the summer I didn't get my day 2 result until the end of day 5! Mind you I doubt anyone is actually going to bother isolating for two or more days whilst waiting for the result.

Get the feeling someone somewhere is making a lot of money out of all this? A Tory no doubt I did see a figure some months ago and it was in the millions per week during the summer. I find it ironic that they only started to make changes once MP's themselves started going on their summer holidays and were shocked at the prices! They made around £700 of me in the summer just so we could get back to the UK for the first time in two years!

Apologies Gassy just re read my post and it doesn't make total sense. Think entering the UK and once in the UK I muddled up. Yep we could save on the pre travel test here in France by taking a lateral flow test but the difference in price for the pair of us would be around €40.

Good morning folks. Just wondering if you good people have had your covid booster jabs yet? Just asking because we are having ours on Thursday and I've read a good few times and from a good friend that Moderna is making a lot of people ill afterwards (albeit only for a couple of days). Anyone here received Moderna and how were you feeling afterwards. Hopefully we'll get jabbed with the Pfizer if we get a choice.

Had mine and that's all I felt, a bit tired and a sore arm for a day or two. Alcohol makes you feel ill but most people still drink a boat load lol.

Fair enough on the Boots one, I've taken about 3 or 4 (as has my partner) Randox PCR tests via drop off and have always had results back the next day - but can understand your reasoning. Worth looking into a one with good trust pilot ratings though? I found an in clinic lateral flow test in Bournemouth, 4 hours until results £39 each with slots available on the 26th, I hope this helps: www.theregenerativeclinic.co.uk/bournemouth-covid-19-pcr-testing-same-day-and-next-day-covid-19-pcr-service/bournemouth-covid-19-rapid-antigen-test-appointment-booking/On your last point, apologies - I meant when leaving x country, you can take an antigen/lft test, not the test upon arrival. So perhaps you could get a cheaper LFT test in France before driving over? (EDIT: just seen your post above)
