The maths is pretty simple and I'm not sure you're correct about it because it seems this new strain is more transmissible but *far* less deadly. But we will see about the numbers...what's more important is that we need to start moving on and not panicking about new variations.....in most countries it's now almost exactly the same as the seasonal flu.... Don't think there is any real data as to how deadly it will be,agree that Covid will eventually be like flu but we're not there yet as Patrick Vallance clearly said we're in a transition phase from Pandemic to epidemic ala flu. Haven't seen anything that says its like flu anywhere else. |

However more transmission means more chance of mutation remember and the worry is the next mutation does become more severe symptoms wise.

I have to say, massive credit goes to Boris and his colleagues.
Every time more evidence came out that he lied to parliament and broke the law, he’s held a national briefing enforcing restrictions or hyping up panic.
The first one wasn’t enough to do the job but the 2nd one finished it off beautifully.
