It's the same story for HCA's. Salary £4000 pm over a decade ago to £1000 now because the Tories buy cheap imports whether they are widgets or humans. However by being democratic and listening to the will of the people over Brexit they went against this attitude where, strangely their opponents did the opposite. Well done for unnecessarily shoe-horning Brexit in, for what it's worth the numbers of EU citizens was rarely 6% of the NHS and is going down. The number of non-EU workers has gone from 4% to 6% since 2012 and is increasing still. Stuart I didn't shoe horn it in for political reasons, but just because it was applicable to the subject. I'm sure we would all prefer in house training than endless human imports.

Your timeline is wrong though, the imports are there to make good the fact we aren't training or paying enough for home grown nurses (or other aspects of the care system). Always within the gift of the government and not related to Brexit really.

The Tories will never buy anything for £2 they can get for £1 and if they create a shortfall in nurses by reducing their investment in training they always knew they could buy a cheaper import.

Right, so when Issac Newton stayed at home to avoid the 1665 plague, he discovered the Laws of Gravity, optics, and he invented calculus. Apart from a couple of wenks and kipping on the sofa, what have you lot done?

Pretty impressive, we were impressed by the Chinese building a hospital in a week, this must be comparable albeit the building was already there. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52125059"In nine days, the 87,328 square metres of double exhibition halls, have been fitted out with the framework for more than 80 wards, each with 42 beds. Some 500 fully-equipped beds, with oxygen and ventilators, are already in place and there is space for another 3,500. If it did reach capacity, it would be one of the largest hospitals in the world."

Amazing! Can they build football stadiums?

UWE to be home to a Nightingale style hospital.
Hancock: More capacity for NHS
After thanking those who are staying at home, Matt Hancock confirms the earlier announcement that there will be two more Nightingale Hospitals.
One will be in Bristol, with the capacity of up to 1,000 beds, and one in Harrogate, with 500 beds.
He says he has agreed with the Northern Ireland executive to deliver more PPE - over five million items, including goggles, aprons and masks
And he confirms 7,000 NHS staff have been now been tested for the virus.

I don't, the current unit is just two years old and very good. But having gone mad, I bought a German unit. A AVM Inspiration P 1.2. Utter madness, personally I blame Nobby.

I'm not really trying to push any particular agenda here, but I have the feeling that once this is all over, people will be thinking differently about public spending.
Until this pandemic struck our shores, state aid was going to wither away in the long term, in my opinion. The regulated free market seemed to be looking after things in an acceptable way, or at least the electorate appeared to think so.
I think this has changed everything. In a crisis, the state steps in and money is no object.
Perhaps it's a comparable situation to the years immediately following the second world war?

If you want to cheer yourself up, it`s no good buying something you need. Has to be extravagant and unnecessary. But very desirable. Anyways, how do Little Mix sound on it?

But, my "Sing Something Simple" compilation recorded on Shellac (His Masters Voice) sounds great.

I’ve still got the gramophone, with the dog next to it. Won’t play my cds though. When all this is over, I’ll have to get someone in to look at it.
