32 times more likely to die with covid than the flu. I assume when you say flu you mean influenza & pneumonia? I've just had a quick scout around, and I reckon about 400 a week die from flu. Currently about 1500 a week are dying from Covid. That's not 32 times more. I'm just going by Google and trying to understand the results. I am not sure you are looking at the numbers correctly from what you have said. Deaths per week are meaningless in this context. You need to look at deaths per infected person which is what Yattongas is alluding to. If 100 people caught Influenza and 100 people caught Covid 19, what would be the expected outcome in terms of mortality rates. I don't know the answer by the way, so I don't know if Yattongas is correct.

I looked at several different pages, some said this, some said that, some were from a Gov page, others from an NHS page, after a while they just became figures on a page and not sure what to believe.

Believe nothing - keep an open mind 💙👍 Only partly true, some things have more credibility than others. Context is everything.

Depends who’s conveying them 🤔💙 Hence the context reference. I'd certainly ignore anything I post. 😃

Same for me. I've read authoritative quotes that Covid has higher mortality than the flu now (in the FT), and elsewhere that it has lower mortality (New Scientist). Who's right? I'm just assuming that death rates are still high, and will continue to be high, because one in four or thereabouts have it, which is much higher than flu. So it's likely to get you, and it might, sadly, kill you, but that is getting to the stage of flu or pneumonia, and we can't lock down any more. Just have to get on with it. I agree that mask wearing should still be common in shops and public transport, but that ship seems to have sailed. I was in Paris last weekend and mask wearing on the Metro was basically 100%. Also on the Eurostar. Back in London, maybe about 20% on the tube at most.

Really couldn’t handle another sh** winter with restrictions but deaths are still pretty high . Over 300 again today I think . Youngest daughter has just been offered her first jab but we’d have to travel miles & miles so not really an option 🙄

It does outline every place that can offer the jab, maybe one is closer than you think?

To be honest my wife was trying to book the jab and told me there was nothing available within a manageable distance . Hopefully we’ll get it sorted soon but she’s also now caught covid of me !

Don't tell the Wife it's in the pubes. I think the youth call it a Vajazzle bags. Really? Going by certain websites, ahem, there's no such thing as pubes, or vajazzles anymore. When I was growing up, 99 Red Balloons was an eye opener.
