We've survived Covid although my wife still has a lingering cough.
Thankfully we've managed to prevent my son from catching it (this time at least) by restricting contact as practically as we could and wearing face masks even in the house.
In my experience, face masks and good old hand hygiene has worked.

That's great ,my other half and son got it two weeks ago which was a concern, but just like a cold thank god, strangely didn't catch it,very odd.

For me it wasn't too bad, shivers for an afternoon then an annoying cough for a few days. I suspect it would have been a different story had it been year earlier and the nastier variant. Although my son probably wouldn't have any issues I wouldn't want to chance it. Glad you are well and not suffering too much.

368 deaths today , it’s certainly not going away even if we’re just cracking on as normal . I guess this is the new normal now ?

Nearly everyone I know either has just had it or got it,suppose it's just going to sweep through the population now, which will provide a level of immunity. Am I right that excess deaths have recently been below previous levels which indicates that Covid is now substitutional for other respiratory infections?

At its height we were all staying indoors And now we're not staying in it's still way down the list of causes of deaths. because of 1. Vaccinations 2. A sh** load of deaths Cant fight nature lads I'm afraid. We needed to buy ourselves time to develop vaccines and treatments and we now have a good combination of both. There is no world in which C19 is eradicated so I dont see much other option. I'd have suggested some continuation of low level measures (masks maybe) as that would have helped the NHS in the short term from being overwhelmed (its really struggling again btw) but the price of that is that you push more in to the winter. I hope those that have it recover well. I've just had it for the third time and this time was the worst for me despite triple vax (obvs). Wish us luck.

At its height we were all staying indoors And now we're not staying in it's still way down the list of causes of deaths. 32 times more likely to die with covid than the flu.

It was 4th because we stopped transmission with lockdowns. Its now whatever it is because we have vaccines and treatments. The world changed with vaccines.

Its now whatever it is because we have vaccines and treatments. The world changed with vaccines. I get it, and I'm for continual vaccinations as well as giving the NHS all the financial support they've been shamelessly raped of by the Tories, I'm just doing a bad job of trying to say we need to get on with it. It's not going away, we can't and won't go back to lockdowns, this is how it's going to be, and there's worse things that need our attention.

I've just had a quick scout around, and I reckon about 400 a week die from flu. Currently about 1500 a week are dying from Covid. That's not 32 times more. I'm just going by Google and trying to understand the results.
