i check this thread daily but never post ( apart from now), asI do find this thread quite fascinating, I think 16 days without a post on here tells the story.. Agreed, I think Omicron has taken the fizz out of Covid and we'll learn to live with it, with the vaccines. Unless a new variant comes, that is. Then again, in the past 16 days Boris' parties took away our attention from Covid. Then the war took away our attention from Boris' parties. What catastrophe will happen next? Crawley 2 Gas 1 ☹️

It appears that even if its not a catastrophe they can turn something into what appears to be one these days...

My daughter has just tested positive, she's okay if a little tired.
Probably inevitable now, thankfully the rest of us are triple vaccinated.

I have responsibilities as a carer, I can't afford to be bedridden or unable to care due to isolation. Hopefully if I was to get it, it'll be much milder and recovery quicker.

Fair enough but there is a lot of hope there. You are aware that if you do catch it you can still spread it no matter how many jabs you have.Is your daughter jabbed?

Are we at the beginning of another wave? Cases doubled the last few days - 72k Case numbers are now useless due to the testing changes. Keep an eye on hospitalisations which are rapidly increasing. Hopefully that's as far as it goes and they don't translate in to further deaths.

But you're right, hospitalisations are a better measure - which are also rising. Not sure how it is in Bristol but in London these days I'd say only about 10-20% of people are wearing masks in shops

Mask wearing was supposedly mandatory, but 70% of people on the train. I took a train from TM last night to Gloucester, after the game. 18:46. It was absolutely rammed. 90% were mask free. My booster was mid November. We shall see.

These figures are very misleading,50% or thereabouts are actually in hospital because of something else and have had a Covid test, wish the media would look beneath the headlines to provide factual context

Nothing more . I'm not getting at you just the erroneous figures that are reported everywhere.,it cannot be beyond the wit of the NHS or whoever is responsible to provide net figures ie: cases that relate to people in hospital because of Covid not for something else.

But it’s all relative anyway though right? If twice as many people who go to hospital have Covid, it still shows the rise in transmission. If they changed the statistic the other way round now where is only showed “cases that relate to people in hospital because of Covid not for something else” then actually it wouldn’t be a fair reflection of the numbers that we’ve grown used to and would downplay the effect it’s having
