Not thought to be on a ventilator yet, despite the Russian news. Raab will be deputising as necessary. What does this mean then in terms of the seriousness of his condition? OB? Impossible to say. Most covid patients ventilated in ICU because they have been put to sleep. In the vast majority they didnt become unconscious due to covid but rather the breathing was bad enough for us to decide to essentially 'take over' the breathing in its entirety. Not all patients will be tubed though on ICU. If he was a normal person I'd say that being on ICU means that he is very unwell indeed, ventilator or not. Perhaps they are just being more cautious with him.

It’s as well to keep publicising that message. I’ve been out to my local park to exercise the past few days and whilst most are behaving the parents of young children continue not to give a sh** by letting their brood run riot all over the path. If you get all of these idiots going to the seaside for the weekend then you can see why the NHS could still be overwhelmed. So for me it’s absolutely right to keep hammering the message home to behave.

As for all this fuss made about people being out. My town, Clevedon has been really quiet and the people that are out are treating others with respect. I personally think the government and media are drumming it home to divert the attention away from the government.

Perhaps they are just being more cautious with him. You would both expect and hope that it was the latter. They said he was still conscious so perhaps all this is just precautionary so he is in the right place in case of the worst? I feel really flat that the head of state is in ICU, feels like a blow to the morale just as there were signs that there be a slowing of the infection rate, especially as seen in Spain and Italy.

Thoughts also with his fiancee and unborn child, who I guess won't be allowed to visit.

The front bench members were all squished up against each other a few days ago in Parliament. Doughnutting, I think they call it, so the camera on the speaker appears to show a large crowd of MPs behind. Whilst telling us all to distance ourselves. Edit: Just checked the spelling of doughnutting, and it has a totally different meaning on certain websites you wouldn't want your granny visiting.

Nevertheless, there are some early promising signs the virus's spread is slowing, as new confirmed cases fell from 4,450 to 3,802 between Friday and Monday.
The rate of increase in new cases has halved in the past week.
BBC on line this morning.

If this sustains then great but we shouldn't be surprised to see a jump today and tomorrow as the reporting catches up. NHS is expecting the peak to be on Easter Sunday give or take a day or two. Things will start to level out soon.

I`ve just been down Joe`s Bakery, and a quick glance in the recycling boxes on the pavements, is testament to how people are coping. I`ve finished up our booze, and made a start on the glue.

50/50 chance COVID survival rate in ICU, 20% if you end up on a ventilator. It really hits home when it's someone as important as Boris under threat, doesn't it.
I assume he won't return to his position for a long time now, unless he'll be immune to another infection?

Like...I can’t even.... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52171694As much as I hate over reaction to things like this I can’t help but think she wants sacking as this is contemptible given the current climate. She of all people should know so much better. Talk about “do as I say not as I do”. Her place in history is pretty secure. When books are written about all this, I think she`ll be nothing but a sad and vilified footnote.

It would be easy to say this is another poorly thought out policy by this government but really if they want people to stay at home what choice did they have?

Not a poorly thought out policy, as government's all over Europe are doing the same. As always though, some people will take advantage.

I am not sure how long it can go on, end of June us my guesstimate. This policy was the only one that will go someway to preventing a permanent scarring on our economy.
