Our worst performance since Garner returned from his leave and it's the win. Confusing times. But idfc Garner-ball is now officially in business Yeah, unless tactical periodisation means getting worldies from your CB and lucky deflections, it's not worked today. Still, there's nothing better than watching a team that has been wasting time for 75 minutes scrabbling around in a mad rush for the last 5.

A relief for all in the ground not connected to Blackpool but I do fear this papers over the cracks a little.
Hoping this is a step in the right direction and we can go on a run. And Ben can make me look very silly.

I'm feeling a massive sense of relief for all the playing staff, manager and coaches at what isn't an easy time..... Well done

But our players have missed so many good chances recently under BG so the bloke deserves something to go his way. But let's have a moan why not eh. I'm just saying you can't say luck hasn't played its part today. True. But when we played well and lost, everyone said it does not matter. You make your own luck etc. Much needed win, don't care if we were lucky.

This weekend sees the visit of the seasiders, Blackpool. It seems a long time ago since they beat us 2-0 at the start of the season, Blackpool fans were riding the crest of a wave with the noose around their neck finally lifted, with the departure of the Oyston's. A few new additions including the impressive Sulley Kaikai a player BG will know all about (Ex-Palace), and a new manager in Simon Grayson. As a gashead who knew what to expect? After a brilliant end to the season for 18/19, I expected GC's "Irish luck" to run out a little and end up about mid table under him. Anyway, here we are 6 months later and with us on a 14 game winless run, we are somehow 2 points above them. This shows 2 things. 1)Just how much GC surpassed my expecations, and 2) How Blackpool have disappointed. I should probably also mention that Blackpool have only won 1 in 10, and have just this week sacked Grayson. I'm sure the manager bounce, might have some sort of effect. I mean it always does, doesn't.... (never mind). Somehow despite our ridiculously awful form, I am feeling more positive than I probably should be. We look much worse defensively under BG's stewardship, also less streetwise. However some of the new additions have shown promise and you can see what BG is trying to achieve, even if he has been very unsuccessful with it so far. The main worry for me when he first arrived was lack of chances, however we now seem to be creating these. If we keep creating then we will eventually start putting them away. I'm going to stick my neck out, and back BG and the boys for our first win under him. Bristol Rovers 2-1 Blackpool. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

I reckon 42 points is looking enough to stay up this season, so let's start looking up the table again 😁

Wasn’t a great performance or a great game in fact but we weathered the conditions and found our way eventually. Kilgours strike has to be the best goal I’ve seen at the mem all season.
Delighted for Garner, that should take some of the heat off him and allow him to get on with his job.

Does this count as a short cut that Ben wasn't willing to take previously? Because for the first time in Ben's reign, we went more direct and had strikers on the pitch and by hook or crook it worked. It's proof that he should have gone more direct a long time ago, hopefully he learns from this. It's not all about 'pretty' football, some times you have to mix it up and adapt to the game/team.

First? It may not have been a great performance but a win is a win, and its a great one given the weather.
Now we need to build with another 4/5 wins at least this season to build into next season.Hopefully we will see some of the soccer Ben is wanting to get us playing as well....? 👍

Well there we go, finally a win.
That was still absolute garbage, it took a worldy from our Centre Back and a ridiculous deflection that Ginelly knew nothing about to just about beat a team in worse form than us, who were down to 10 men for over 45 mins.
Maybe that's the luck we needed and now the Monkeys off the back we can build on that.

Fun fact. Despite our truly awful run, we have extended the points gap to the relegation zone by 2pts during the time since Coughlan left. Luckily there are some really poor sides in the league this season!
I think it’s safe to say that our extended pre-season for 2020/21 starts on Monday!

You make your own luck etc. Much needed win, don't care if we were lucky. It doesn't when you've won 0 in 14 tbf. We didn't lose the other games because of luck, it wasn't like we were unlucky. It was because the defending was crap. The only time we deserved to win but didn't was Wycombe, so it's hardly like we've been dominating the last 10 games but been unlucky. You do make your own luck though, that's true. And how did we make it? By going more direct, having more attackers on the pitch and just going for it. And it worked! Hopefully Ben can at least learn something from that and push us on further.
