We will need Ipswich away levels of resilience to get anything from this. Sunderland are a good side that are coming into form as they look for promotion. Hopefully we’ve turned a corner after Garners first win against Blackpool. 1-1.

Game will be over by half time. Heavy defeat coming. Nothing against BG as I am desperate for him to succeed with us and his new signings but Sunderland are on form, home advantage and I feel will be a step too far for us. The home tie though I feel we will get revenge.

Hailstones forecast around kick off time .
Hopefully they’ll be playing in to it first half , won’t be able to see anything and then the wind will change second half , they won’t be able to see anything ... we’ll you never know.

As I understand it, Sunderland have improved after changing to five at the back, or at least getting that formation to work well for them.
As I have said in other threads, I think we have to revert to a central defensive three/ back five today to ensure we are solid.
The game will be a good test of BG's tactics and the players. In some ways it will be a marker as Sunderland are not a typical big bruising League 1 team. Physically they are not that big so if our new way is going to work against one of the top teams in the division - maybe it's today.
We will have to work very hard to match them and perhaps we will have chances from free kicks and corners if Sunderland defend them as poorly as they did v Pompey a few weeks back.
