Wtf is wrong with the players these days, need a good kick up the arse The blame lies with the clubs who sign them. “Unfit? No contract for you”. It’s not rocket science. Yeah what ever happened to the medical?

I mean, i read it as, not that he isnt fit, just not fit enough currently for what BG is wanting
If the aim is to be high and hard pressing than all players must be up to the task at hand. I now its a different level and everything but Klopp was making sure the likes of Fabinho and Robertson were fit enough and well drilled enough before they got in the Liverpool team
As BG says, its the same for every player. The players have had the GPS stuff for ages now and even DC was saying x player didnt do enough
Barrett actually looks like a player with a bit of skill and talent, so hopefully BG or the next manager can get something out of him on a regular basis

Another thing that f**ks me off with Garner, is that every time he says, 'I take responsibility for that,' his next sentence is to blame someone else. He contradicts himself continually, the longer the interview the more he contradicts, his pre-Sunderland interview is chocked full.

Looking at Barratt's Instagram account then similar to Rooney he's always looked to be carrying some weight, is there any real evidence he's actually overweight/not fit or just another forum fact he is? Perhaps it is the same source of forum fact that revealed we are paying 75% of TN’s wages at Cheltenham? Thought I said "bulk" which could be anywhere from 51% to 100% it was Swindle who apparently only wanted to pay 25% of Bennett's wages, if you are going to try and make a point at least get your facts right.

What on earth is this? Firstly- Barrett has already played. So why now is there this new rule about fitness? What a way to single a player out "You are so fat, we've had to introduce a new club rule that fat people can't play". Secondly he keeps going on about long term infrastructure off the pitch and gives zero examples of any of it. It's so obviously bollocks. It's the sort of thing you just make up if you're getting a bollocking from your boss for always being late. "Errr ... yeah but I'm putting infrastructure in place ... no I can't tell you what exactly but I am". That and the long term plan crap is just flim flam trash!

What a way to single a player out "You are so fat, we've had to introduce a new club rule that fat people can't play". 😆 This comment wins the forum for the day. Do you know how Josh Barrett has been performing in training? Do you know what, if any, fitness tests or other assessments have been made since joining us? Has his fitness levels improved, deteriorated; or just not achieved any target that may have been set by the management, or even the player himself? Do you know if there are any other mental or physical reasons why Josh might not be at his best right now? Perhaps Josh has had a set-back in terms of his progress, which the coaching staff feel warrants a break away from availability for selection? I have no idea, but I would think that Ben Garner has a better idea than us.
From what I have seen of Barrett he seems a talent and will hopefully prove to be a good signing - worth the risk in my opinion. Despite all the nonsense on this forum, I am sure that Rovers were fully aware of his present condition, both physically and mentally, and aware of his history.
A fully fit Josh Barrett performing to his potential would probably be beyond our budget. Given his age, he still has plenty of time to improve his fitness and lifestyle and realise his future relies on more than talent alone. We have gambled on talented players returning from long term injuries before - sometimes they have worked (Bodin), sometimes they have not (Jamie Shore - but what a talent!); some are still pending (Tareiq).
Regardless of the horrendous run we are on, I will give players time to fulfill their potential. Unbelievable how many negative comments I have read on Cian Harries. A poor debut, but come on, are we really prepared to judge a player on one performance!
As for Josh, I look forward to seeing him providing that much needed creativity we are so desperately in need of. Good Luck Josh. Whatever off the field problems you are experiencing, I can only hope the club are fully supporting you and that we see you in our starting eleven soon.
UTG!

Barrett seems a mental signing when you think he's been here two whole months and is STILL unfit to play. Surely contracts these days state that a player has to be at a certain level of fitness if not injured, self-regulating and diet are key parts of a contracted players responsibilities. If he's not making the right decisions off the pitch then you'd hope we can take action?
Seemed a great signing on paper - he could have all the ability of Lionel Messi but it wouldn't matter if he's got the fitness and attitude of Jamie White?

I don't that's a criticism of Barrett. We're criticising the way BG invoked him in his presser to defend himself.

I mean this is a cliched comment by manager football managers but at least some actually sound half believable. BG strikes me as someone who has read a manual on how to be a football manager and comes out with all the same old footballing cliches. His time here must be up soon, surely. I really believe we are probably a laughing stock in the footballing world.

A weird thing to say about someone in an interview. He could have just not selected him, but he basically calls him a Fat B@stard. And the infrastructure thing got me very puzzled. I can't see any positive sign of anything, whether players, staff or buildings. Perhaps he was referring to the fact that we'll soon be propping up the rest of the league.

Bizarre thing to say, surely it's the type of thing to be said behind closed doors not publically, but if BG had spent 18 months watching him didn't he notice he'd been putting on weight? Let's be honest if a Championship club can't get him fit then we've no chance with our non league training facilities.
