Sadly if those who can don’t renew then there may not be a club for us to support when this is all over.
In fairness I am prepared to renew my ticket, but not if I am paying for a product that does not exist. Lets not forget most season ticket holders have already "donated" 8 games or so which amounts to perhaps a £150 for a stand seat. If we pay for tickets now and the money is spent, will we be asked to pay again when football starts over ?
In the right circumstances I will contribute to help keep the club going, but not on the premise of buying a ticket.
If the club is near to going under then perhaps it is time for Wael to sell the fans some of his shareholding, or at least start to engage with fans and find a new "honesty" in what we are told.
There are many ways to keep the club going without it selling things that it can't deliver.
Finally we are lucky in that we have an owner who seems able to fund loses, even if he does not have the funds to invest enough to move us forward. I think many other EFL clubs will go under before Bristol Rovers and perhaps the top of the pyramid will realise some of the money needs to flow down instead of going into the pockets of over payed players and agents at the top of the game.
Back on the subject of the thread - I do have some sympathy for out of contract players at our level and below if this does not get sorted in some way. Football is a short career and a couple of years of not playing will hurt some who have little in the way of other career options in the short term.
In the next few months lots of people will return to work, and indeed many are working already. I really don't see playing football behind closed doors is a massive risk compared with working in a office or factory full of people. Kid yourself we will all be immune by sitting a couple of metres apart, I think I would rather be in the open air playing football than sat in a office full other people, who I still have to share lots of things with. Most footballers can drive to the training ground, not pack into buses and trains to get into work.
At least then clubs can then make money from streaming and the sizeable number of out of contract players have a chance of work even if it is at lower wages than in the past. Once you have games you have a chance of selling merchandise, even programmes etc and you will at least keep interest in football. Worse case will be Premier League restarting and people getting used to watching that on TV while forgetting their local club.
