This idea taken and adapted from today's BBC football website what is the best ever individual performance you have seen from a Rovers player? Maybe... Smash and Grab at Brighton Cureton at Reading Ansi at Plymouth in the Cup Junior against Yeovil, he was unplayable that night him against 4 or 5 defenders! :awesome: Hard to top that and as mentioned previously Kevin Miller was also at his brilliant best that night. Rickie Lambert's double brace in the 4-2 dismantling of Southend was also pretty special.

Because it was the only game I can recall him being any good, the hat trick by Miah Denehey v Swansea on Boxing Day 1979 takes some beating. Harold Jarman in the dugout was going crazy, he couldn't believe what was happening.

Beckford when we played against Leeds at home
Disley when he played for Mansfield against us
Ellington for us vs Derby
All stick out in my mind

Lomanar LuaLua turn of the century home v Colchester United. Was substituted to a standing ovation from large parts of home Mem crowd (myself included) because he turned us ragged. He done much the same in corresponding match over there when we were winning by a mile and lost 5-4 (or was it 4-3!??). Not many away players have been applauded by us without having some connection with the club prior.. Think it was 5-4. Think Cureton hit the bar from a penalty as well. Some game, just a shame at lost it.

Marcus browning home to Derby under Allison 1993ish? Playing behind front two.. Big mal then gave his famous 'natural athlete' assessment of him. Cureton away at Oxford 6-0 at the Manor. Walters away at Stoke. Tony pounder home to Liverpool. In terms of players against us.. New year's day 1992 ish.. Twerton, Southend at home, Stan collymore destroyed us... Dwight Yorke at Twerton for villa in Cup, Dean Saunders same match, Craig Bellamy for West ham in league Cup match when jacobson broke kieran dyers leg.. Random one.. Ray kendall testimonial, Coventry at home-peter ndlovu.. Amazing pkayer

Oh and when we played West brom in last 16 of the fa cup at the mem a few years ago and got hammered in awful conditions from memory.. West brom had a big striker possibly on loan to them called Miller?? He was a right handful and absolutely tore us apart from what I remember

Just looked it up.. He was called ishmail Miller and scored a hat trick against us and they beat us 5-1..ive done us a disservice, it was the fa cup quarter final in 2008 and not the last 16.

He seemed to be unusually fired up that day....

Lockyer vs Portsmouth last season. Quite remarkable performance in the face of the hostility. So good he had a bottle thrown at him. It's got to be up there. That game was an absolute battle - the reason Locks got a bottle thrown at him was because he had the temerity to have treatment after a cut from a punch thrown by their sub - Vaughan I think (nasty piece of work)

I remember a great performance by Peter Osgood for Southampton against us. He was unplayable that day.

I was positive Ishmael Miller would go on to play for England after his spell at West Brom in the Championship and that performance against us. He made our defence look like dicks! He got injured not long after his first Premier League appearance and was never the same again.

But for pure genius, a stand out performance (bearing in mind we were half decent in those days and never relegated to 4th division), some things stick in mind.. LuaLua. Ryce. Also, a young Anthony Pilkington ... For Huddersfield, he turned Joe Jacobson inside out on that fateful night..

Jamal Campbell-Ryce. One of the only opposition players I’ve ever seen given a standing ovation from the whole ground. Think it was Orient and tore us to shreds.

Campbell-Ryce for me too. I very rarely notice opposition players but he stood out even to me. The only way we would have got the ball off him that day was to cut his legs off.
I’d also say the Mansfield attack from when Keith Curle managed them- Disney Lawrence and Mendes all destroyed us with some of the best football I’ve seen at lower league level. 4-0 up in 20 minutes or something ridiculous like that. Up against us in our mid 2000’s doldrums it was the very definition of men against boys.
Lastly I thought the Dagenham keeper was outstanding in *that* game. Even though it was a nothing game for them you could see he wanted to ruin it for us and played like he was possessed. Didn’t deserve to be on the losing side but I’m glad he was and Lee Brown’s winner was made all the sweeter because of the goalkeeper’s performance and because the keeper himself was seriously watered off we had scored it. Maybe a closet Red in disguise 😂
