So would people see this a season of progress or regression for Rovers? We never were in any serious relegation battle like last year and finished higher with more points, but it feels very frustrating that we were in such a good position for so much of the campaign and it just fell off with awful form after January. Massive regression from where we were at Christmas. How anyone can see the last 3-4 months of the season as a positive I do not know. I don't think I've seen a single gashead claim that the last 3-4 months were positive. Massively disappointing end to the season.

I think when we consider our form PPG kept us up! Can we have PPG as our POTS!

If you think there's probably 6 teams voting for promotion/playoffs. 3 or 4 teams above the relegation zone, looking like they had a chance of relegation. So they would have needed 2 or 3 more mid table don't really give a toss votes to carry it.
Peterborough chairman is quoted as saying only 4 voted to continue.
Tranmere, Peterborough, Sunderland would be my certs. Not 100% on the other, Ipswich maybe?
I think it came down to the size of clubs and their revenues. Can't see the likes of Burton, Accrington, Rochdale volenteering to take the same financial hit as the Portsmouths etc with nothing to play for.

Financial decision in the end. Of course it would have been better to have finished the season but the longer this went on the less likely it was.
Yes it must be frustrating for some clubs but I guess that if you’re outside the play-offs you’re not as good as those in it and if you’re in the bottom three you’re pretty poor anyway. I know Wycombe we’re outside now they’re not but I think Oxford or Pompey are better and I hope Pompey do it even though I will miss that away trip as a match. Tranmere? Well they got a free hit against Bolton and still messed it up. And that excuse Payne plays for them so I don’t care and finally Bolton have not avoided a deserved relegation. Could have been worse. UTG!

I for one am so glad that Tranmere and Bolton have been relegated. Seeing Tranmere fans complain on Twitter that it’s not fair because they have a game in hand. They could win that game 10-0 and still be third bottom I think its harsh on Tranmere. Could have stayed up with the amount of game remaining and they could argue they had the easier run of games left compared to Wimbledon. And looking at form over the last 8 games, Tranmere were doing better winning 3 of their last 8 while Wimbledon had won just once.
But although it is harsh in my opinion, I am delighted just purely down to Stefan Payne.
Unfortunately based on the season so far they have been the third worst team. Only got themselves to blame

Best to draw a line through 19/20 and hope we're better prepared for 20/21.
Just looking forward to being back at the mem. Hope the Winner of Oxford/pompey goes up, having Wycombe or Fleetwood in the second tier would be a joke

Hallelujah, what took them so long! tough on Tranmere i suppose, good club with whom we had great relationship during championship season PS didn't realise Ipswich were so far off pace, expected them to win title, don't rate their manager though. He was awful up here at Stoke.Took them down.Had an accent no-one could understand.

Will be backing Portsmouth in the play offs - obviously don't want Oxford and Wycombe to go up, only thing Fleetwood have going for them is it would get rid of a long trip and a team that bring few fans with them. Hopefully Browner and Ellis involved.

League One reaction: Peterborough have been cheated says Barry Fry 1 hour ago From the sectionLeague One Share this page Barry Fry and Darragh MacAnthony Barry Fry and Darragh MacAnthony were both furious after Peterborough were denied a play-off place Peterborough United have been "cheated" out of a chance to gain promotion to the Championship according to director of football Barry Fry. Posh were replaced in the play-offs by Wycombe on a points-per-game basis after League One season was curtailed on Tuesday. "I've been in the game 60 years and it's the biggest disappointment I've ever had," Fry told BBC Look East. "I feel my club has been cheated for the chance of promotion." Peterborough - who had taken 22 points from their last nine games - finished seventh after the table was rejigged. Wycombe, who had a game in hand on Posh, climbed from eighth to third. "Your form at home, your form away, they took nothing into consideration, I think it's been a disgrace the way it's been handled form day one," 75-year-old Fry added. "The governing bodies have let the football family down, I'm so annoyed." Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony said there had been an injustice and pledged "vengeance" next season, but Wycombe chairman Rob Couhig told BBC Three Counties Radio he believed the right decision had been made. "I have to admit some disappointment and I know Gareth and the players feel like if they had been allowed to play out the season they could have contended for that automatic promotion," Couhig said. "But I think the league did the right thing by all the teams recognising the safety factors, recognising the financial implications, looking at the sporting integrity components and came out with the responsible decision. "The fact that the votes were overwhelmingly in support of the EFL's proposal I think indicates that it had great support throughout the league."

Personally I hope Fleetwood go up, just so we don’t have to play them again. Games against Wycombe, Oxford and Portsmouth tend to be tasty with packed away ends both home and Away. Fleetwood is tricky to get to and never bring more than 100 down to the mem.
Could be quite a local league next year with potentially Swindon, Oxford, Plymouth, Portsmouth and maybe one of Exeter or Cheltenham in the league. I know some of those places are actually a fair trek away but it’s better than playing Tranmere.

Points per game is definitely flawed, as evidenced by Coughlan's ppg having saw us in with a promotion shout and BG's having seen us relegated; with virtually the same group of players. However it was unfortunately the fairest and most obvious way of concluding this season, just relieved we finally have a decision! UTG

At least clubs and players can now start preparing properly for the new season - whenever that might be. Just so glad we weren't in the mix for relegation, as I'm not sure I'd be feeling the same about it all if we'd been relegated on PPG.

Another season in third tier fotball for mighty Sunderland? Absolutely great. With their resources, fan base, stadium and parachute payments they should be back in the Premiership.

Lot of Big games and clubs in the division next season. Garner wont have much wiggle room to get results.
