Or you could demonstrate that your Man didn't club a fox to death with a baseball bat, or that one of the papers of choice of the left wasn't founded in part with money from slave labour, or you could have said that them claiming that the founder's view that it was OK for one human being to own another as property was just fine as his opinions were 'of his time' are in fact morally reprehensible. The fact that your 'go to' argument is to suggest that it's me who is the problem suggests that you are OK with the above, that's unfortunate. Good luck explaining your views on slavery to BLM activists, that conversation is sure to go well. This is yet another problem with lefties, it's all virtue signalling with zero linked up thinking. But what you did was straight away try to discredit Maughn. I suppose you havent looked at the info in what he is raising as a concern, as you havent tried to justify giving a 250m quid contract for PPE to a company with zero accounts or registered as doing business in such things as PPE I didn't award any contracts and haven't defended them, so have nothing to justify. Clubbing a fox to death with a baseball bat on the other hand. Sure he didn't get prosecuted, but I wouldn't have done it, so I feel perfectly comfortable with criticising him for the action. I wouldn't take money from The Guardian, for the reasons I've already given. I respect democracy. Had Remain of won by a single vote I would have accepted that as the final decision, they lost, by a massive margin, he was up to his neck in attempting to derail the democratic process that underpins our entire political system. The damage done by Remain will be with us for decades, if not generations. It's not the vote that was divisive, it's the conduct on behalf of Remain following the vote that's caused the problems.

You set 'em up No need to Shorty...you are doing just fine. Well, that raised the tone of the debate. Congratulations. Why not really surpass yourself and say something derogatory about my Mother. As usual, the left simply aren't capable of any level of serious discussion.

Another day another epic balls up by an arrogant reactionary government. Williamson was laughable in justifying the 10:30 at night changes to exam moderation this morning

Did anyone expect anything different from an Education Secretary who clearly doesn’t understand the detail involved in his own ministry? The guy was an inept Defence Secretary whose ambition far exceeded his ability to master a brief or understand what his job entailed. He has proved to be even worse as Education Secretary. After their mistakes in dealing with aspects of the CV crisis it was hard to envisage any greater cock up, but they’ve somehow managed it over A Level results. Williamson's mind seems to be influenced by the last person he speaks to, it’s not driven by reason, rationale, or even policy, just the last person he’s spoken to. Blimey, just when you thought this lot couldn’t prove to be any more inept, they somehow manage to.

They’ve done a u-turn now, but f*cking hell what a joke.
I’d be genuinely curious to see people’s defending of this cock up.

We knew what we were going to get with a buffoon as prime minister.
The mask has slipped from politics hasn't it, it's a bunch of toffs looking after their own, whilst trying to milk the weakest in society.

Unfortunately I think only those who didn't vote Tory, knew what we'd get. The only good thing I can think that came from the A Level fiasco is that many of those parents must have been Tory voters, will this make them realise the pure incompetence of this government? It's one thing when it happens to other people, but when it starts messing with your own children's future, it changes things. Right?

Yeah, Kier Starmers labour may pick up the floating voters as he is trying to cater for the majority. The trust in this government seems to be eroding, you'd hope so anyway after the care home decimation & total lack of preparation etc..

And of course with the algorithm which they use to downgrade being a postcode-type filter it won’t be the children of ministers or relatively wealthy people who suffer but the children of working and lower middle class people who don’t have access to the best of schools. They will have been going to schools where staff have been working their socks off to turn them around and improve them. Whatever happens, staffs in school will not trust or even respect Williamson so he has to go. Another attempt by those in power to support their “type” and keep others in their place. The next few days will see if BJ has the wherewithal to sack Williamson. He should resign and failing that be sacked but after Jenrick and Cummings who knows. I suspect there will be a re-shuffle in the Autumn and some people will disappear without having to “sack” them. But who knows with this government, they appear to have no moral compass.

I was genuinely shocked to discover that moderation included consideration of the history of the school. How on earth can you moderate assessment of a child's performance by considering the school's history? That just cements the underperformance inpertuity. The thing that should be moderated is the actual marking. A two step process of internal verification and a 30% sampling external verification should be enough to ensure the robustness of the actual assessment against awarding body criteria. Williamson this morning was rambling on about not being prejudicial against minorities or people from deprived areas. What bollox, moderation should take no account of sex, ethnic background nor economic status. He was making it up, just as his boss does. Can you imagine the detail in any trade deals negotiated by these utter clowns? Btw, where the f*ck is Johnson? On another holiday?

They won’t resign. This government is untouchable and it’s never their fault.
Watch them work out for a few days who they can pin it on

Can anyone name me a Minister who resigned on principle due to their department's failings? Struggling to think of anyone since Lord Carrington in 1982 (as aside from personal misgivings such as Robin Cook and latterly Sajid Javid).
