Just so I get this right: aghast & Yatton are arguing over whether Aghast was right because whilst aghast said this would all happen, he didn’t state the means in how it would happen? I have no idea what that argument is about or what has provoked it.

Aghast said Truss & Co weren’t proper head banging right wing loons . They are and were but the reason it’s falling apart isn’t because they have moderated since gaining power , it’s because the markets weren’t having it and the public were appalled. Anyway …. Time to move on 😃

Crispin Blunt is the first to call for her to go, she is clearly just a figurehead at the moment with Jeremy Hunt de facto boss.
In other news, nothing to see here:
"Liz Truss's chief of staff has recused himself from discussions about changes to the government's smoking strategy due to his past work as a tobacco industry lobbyist.
Mark Fullbrook, the prime minister's most senior adviser, has worked on behalf of British American Tobacco and Philip Morris, the maker of Marlboro cigarettes.
The government is considering shelving an action plan on tackling smoking according to media reports. On Tuesday, Health Secretary Therese Coffey was unable to confirm if she was scrapping the plan. The Department of Health insists "no decisions have been taken".
Mr Fullbrook told Sky News he will have "no involvement whatsoever" in government smoking policy.
"Despite what people may want to imply, I am sensible enough not to misuse my position in any way", he said.
Mr Fullbrook has already committed to avoid involvement in all foreign policy relating to Libya, following a Sunday Times investigation into his work on behalf of Libyan politician Fathi Bashagha.
Wes Streeting MP, Shadow Health Secretary, said: "Number 10 has questions to answer about the involvement of Mark Fullbrook and any other former lobbyists for Big Tobacco in the decision to drop plans to tackle smoking. The Health Secretary must also be clear about her own tobacco industry connections."
In 2011, Therese Coffey received £1,132 in gifts and hospitality from tobacco company Gallaher Ltd. In 2015, she voted against banning smoking in cars with children."

Energy Price Guarantee, now only to April (initially) with a treasury led review on how to help after that. Possibly a better targeted approach and higher users paying more?
19p rate scrapped indefinitely
This Government is shot. There has to be a General Election. We can't limp on with this shambles for 18 months

Possibly a better targeted approach and higher users paying more? 19p rate scrapped indefinitely This Government is shot. There has to be a General Election. We can't limp on with this shambles for 18 months It's pretty clear who is in charge now, question is really about the mechanism and timings. According to one headline in the papers, Plot 1 is getting a joint Mordaunt and Sunak ticket (how does that work in practice??), Plot 2 is Ben Wallace and Plot 3 is Hunt moves next door. Wallace is reportedly on resignation watch over a reneging on the 3% GDP promise too, plus could move to be Nato Secretary General in time. I initially wondered if both Truss and Kwarteng would be gone by December, with one already out I wouldn't be surprised if Truss is gone within days. How can there be a genuine unity candidate in a party so divided. The Brexit fallout and fault lines are still there.

Energy Price Guarantee changes (or not) will be interesting. The wording of the announcement talked about consumption. A possible usgae price cap. unit price capped up to x levels of Kwh. Anything over that usage charge at higher/market rate.
Of course come April who know who will be in bloody charge

St Nicola was out in force today, land of milk and honey. Scottish ££££s.

Bye bye Liz Truss, absolute disaster. Should never have got the job in the first place. She only got it over Sunak because of colour of her skin.

Bye bye Liz Truss, absolute disaster. Should never have got the job in the first place. She only got it over Sunak because of colour of her skin. I doubt that, at least for most of them. The real reason is twofold, Truss has long been seen as the darling of the membership and they felt Sunak was disloyal to Boris. According to the i newspaper, Hunt and Wallace have both ruled themselves out.
