Good morning Stuart all good up here albeit very wet, hope you are all well. I agree with your post, the challenge for any government in dealing with any country including China is that you can't completely withdraw ,you have to engage to try to drive a change. My understanding of the Lords amendment was that it did not compel the government to not do a deal but compelled them to consider Genocide as a determining factor. I see nothing wrong with that however, the cynical part of me believes how big a factor that would be depends on who we were negotiating with and in respect of China we would not sign a trade deal due to their appalling treatment of all minorities not just the Wighurs. Not too bad thanks, getting through it. This is the realm of realpolitik and generally speaking I agree that engaging is normally the better way. That said, China is now too big for us as the UK to have influence and we seem too keen on buying their products. Probably worthy of a thread in its own right, China will be the dominating power very soon. You only have to look at the growth in the size of their navy and their interests in raw materials especially in Africa. That's good, how's the job? I agree Stuart and that wea are now in the position that China is too big to ignore and that puts us in an invidious position. The brutal truth is that China will do exactly what China wants to do and we are between a rock and a hard place.

To be honest while I'm gutted I'm also at the point of wanting to just get over with. I've got a couple of applications and interviews in the pipeline, although with trying to home educate two children, not trying to juggle a job too would be invaluable. Also looking to see whether registering for Jobseekers would be better than as a full time carer. I reckon I might persuade my wife to up her hours at work and I'll be a kept man. 😉

There’s no depths they won’t stoop to ☹️ Another great win for Britain! Now we are free to trade with some of the foulest regimes on the planet! I wonder if we can trade our feckless jobless/homeless to give our genocidal friends some extra target practice? We can sell them ammunition AND live targets to boot. What a time for our genocidal friends to be alive, with Britain now unchained and ready to cater to their every whim. #proud

They don’t care, because we don’t care. It’s all in plain sight.
Don’t forget Zahawi changing his company to medical services, we’re still waiting to see what this wheeze is going to be about but no doubt it will be vaccine related.

So let's fund £794 million for 2 x 50 year old rail routes and then let's increase Council Tax in the same month furlough stops. Good shout.

Not sure what the point of the comparison is ? Thought it was interesting , not totally Brexit or Covid but about how our government have wasted billions of pounds of our money only to have the most deaths in Europe. So I opted for this thread 😀👍

So I opted for this thread 😀👍 I guess you could argue whether they've wasted the money or not,I see it as at least they made funding available, you can't micro manage other people's incompetence and the truth is governments have wasted money since time immemorial.
