Also, just seen that his mates pub - the one who allegedly got a contract for PPE a while back - is called The Cock Inn. Seems he just can’t help himself. Really don’t know what to make of that…..😀🤔

Good news, Government subsidised but I have no issues with that. "Nissan is to announce a major expansion of battery production in Sunderland creating thousands of new jobs both directly and in the supply chain. The firm, which already makes the Leaf electric car in Sunderland, may also announce the launch of a brand new electric model. The government is contributing to the overall cost of the project, which is expected to cost hundreds of millions. The size of the government contribution has not been disclosed. As a person familiar with the deal put it, the government announced a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, so it was prepared to support the transition." www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57640001

A government, a Tory Government, supporting industry, who would have thought it.

UK is ranked 6th in the world on gross GDP
However, when ranked on the more representative GDP per capita (ie per head of population)
UK is ranked at 21 (& projected to drop to 23 for 2019) behind France Germany, NL, Ireland, Norway, Belgium, & even San Marino

I saw Labour won the by-election in Batley & Spen, but I thought Labour were finished and done for?
Wonder what excuses people will be making now?

Not sure I'm totally comfortable with the plan you effectively turn the victims of trafficking into the criminals. "Priti Patel has said a new immigration bill will “break the business model” of people trafficking gangs facilitating illegal crossings into the UK. The home secretary said the new legislation was aimed at “addressing our broken asylum system” and taking action “in a way that we have been unable to take action in the past because of our membership of the European Union”. The Nationality and Borders bill, which will be unveiled in parliament today, will allow migrant boats to be sent back to France and asylum seekers who land in Britain illegally to be arrested. For the first time the way in which a person arrives - legally or illegally - will have a bearing on whether their asylum application is accepted. Prison sentences will also be increased for people who enter the UK without permission from six months to four years, and a maximum of life imprisonment for convicted people smugglers will be introduced." news.sky.com/story/people-smugglers-to-face-life-sentences-under-new-border-rules-but-government-warned-plans-could-breach-international-law-12349967

It could never happen here, could it? "Human rights organisations and the Law Commission, which drew up the proposals, say there should be a 'public interest defence' included to prevent the prosecution of journalists who receive leaked documents. But in a paper released for the consultation, the Home Office said such a move would 'undermine our efforts to prevent damaging unauthorised disclosures, which would not be in the public interest'. Critics suggested that if the rules were in place now it could have led to a prosecution of the journalists who revealed this month that Matt Hancock was breaking Covid rules by having an affair with his married aide, because it relied on leaked CCTV footage." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9806517/amp/Journalists-face-14-years-prison-embarrassing-Government-proposed-law-change.html?__twitter_impression=true
