I don't think Henderson would have ever moved south, completely reasonable move for him to Salford. I see Chris Martin is currently without a club, may be worth an approach. Fair points regarding Henderson and you're probably right, as he wouldn't have to move house. Chris Martin is a good shout if affordable, but another one that probably doesn't suit the so called 'recruitment model'. Ross McCormack will probably be dropping down to league one this season. A free agent and at 33, would get goals at this level.

I agree that ideally we need an experienced striker as back up for JCH whilst we develop Ayunga. The trouble I see with this is the calibre of player we would need ie experienced, proven goal scorer would probably take up a sizeable chunk of budget and trying to convince them to play second fiddle to JCH could be a problem. I would try though if I were the club

About as far away from the Ben Garner model as you can get, but would be good to wheel him on for set pieces.

I think we do need another all-out forward but this business with Hiwula has been mentioned for a very long time on here and is going on too long. He’s been mentioned for as long as the summer chases for Clive Platt a very long time ago and for as long as the chase for James Constable in 2013 by John Ward, and we know where that ended. If he wanted to join us he’d already be here and with what we’ve already signed I suspect our wages aren’t the worst. I hope someone from BRFC is playing hardball with him and not just giving him what he wants to come here. If he’s waiting to get a better offer I’d be inclined to say “thanks but no thanks.” So what have we if we go with what we’ve got already? JCH, Daly, Ayunga, Walker, Phillips and Warwick or even others. Been a few summers when we’ve had a lot worse. I’ve no real idea of what Wail’s hoping for this year but with what we’ve recruited something a bit more than mid-table I would have thought and for that to happen perhaps 1 more striker required. But I’m definitely not ITK!! 😉 UTG! What, after Mark McGhee gave up on him a year earlier? Pretty sure it was 2013, but whatever year my point remains that we spent that whole summer (whichever year 😉) chasing someone we didn’t get and had no plan B. So let’s not repeat that. UTG!

I thought the same, it sounds like an over fermented batch of cider. Anyway I cannot make head not tail of that quote, how does any of that mean we are signing a left back?

Read from the bottom up Question "Are Rovers looking to sign a left back" Answer "Yes" If only one more is coming in I would personally prefer a striker to a left back

Striker over left back for me as well. If we are doing the 3 at the back formation (which looks likely with the signings and friendly formation) then Leahy and Kelly are good enough for the wing back slot. I would just worry with them as a full back in a back 4.

In an ideal world we'd sign a left back and a striker but we do have 2 average left sided wing backs tha can do an okay job.
Apart from JCH we're relying on a 20 year old and a 23 year old who only have 3 EFL appearances between them. A striker has to be the priority.

Hiwulas agent asking for too much in wages from clubs which is curtailing his transfer, according to ex agent James Goodwin who is mostly accurate.

Neither are good enough defensively and good teams will exploit that - we're only as good as our weakest link at the back. Agree we certainly need an experienced striker - personally, get shot of overrated JCH if he wont sign an extended contract - I feel he's up his own backside - coming back from lock down looking physically way out of shape. I thought he looked pretty mediocre (when he did manage to play) after GC left.

Weren't we in for Nutall before under Coughlan? When he said in a pre-match interview along the lines of "we were in for a player but it now looks like he will be playing against us this weekend"?

Found it. Coughlan said "I fully expect them to maybe have a centre-forward in the building before kick-off on Saturday. One which we like as well but we just can't match Blackpool" and then they went and signed Nutall.
Maybe a rumour that has more substance to it as I assume he is on Widdrington's radar but it has also come from one of these Twitter pages that rarely get much right!

I'd be very happy with Nutall personally!

Not for me - 8 goals in 68 league matches - would hope we could a bit better than this.
