Talk about delusions of grandeur for the “world famous” Gloucester Road no one outside of Bristol has heard of. |

I’m against it to be honest - I’d personally rather Gloucester Road kept its character and different pubs than be absorbed by a identikit Wetherspoons.

Not sure the concept that an independent pub should be granted permission but an application from a chain should be rejected is something that actually exists in planning law ?
You apply for type of use and design, not on who owns the establishment surely ?
Personally think it has been a dump for years and what is planned looks as good as anything else down there. Lets be honest if you live on Gloucester Road you expect a bit of life, most people move there partly for that reason, it is not like it is up a side road it is on a busy commercial through road full of pubs and restaurants.

Even though I know a lot of people love Weatherspoons, shouldn’t we encourage fans to drink & eat at the ground rather than lining the pockets of businesses who contribute nothing to the club.

I’m in two minds.
As much as I’d like Glos road to keep its originality and support local, I’d also like to give 2 fingers up to the NIMBY arseholes associated with groups like TRASH and ROSE.
if they’re so worried about Drunk football thugs well they had an opportunity to get rid of them years ago...

If we ever get the FM stadium, I fervently hope we sell the Mem land to the City Council so they can cover it with densely crowded social housing for problem families, and perhaps a rehab hostel. The NIMBYs should welcome that with their OK Yaaah affectations and Liberal ideals. But I wonder? |

This is very true. I would much prefer our bars to be packed before and after matches. Much needed finance for the club. |
