Try the one in Bedminster on a Thursday afternoon 👀 I popped in on Saturday evening, I wondered why there was huge queues outside the booze shop on the junction of Cannon street and East Street. Then the pub had loads of the "Stokes Croft" types in, definitely not locals.
I saw the following day that there was some sort of gathering in the local park, The few local pubs I have been to have been in the main, well controlled and I felt safe. Spoons was no exception, member of staff on the door controlling entry and exit, hand sanitation and track and trace forms. I would definitely use it again - UTG Yeah I was surprised that the colliers and the masonic had proper procedures in place. Considering quite a few places in town are very lax about it all!

I’m against it to be honest - I’d personally rather Gloucester Road kept its character and different pubs than be absorbed by a identikit Wetherspoons. I wish they would just bulldoze the whole of gloucester road as its a eyesore and full of pricks What, even at 2.30pm on every alternate winter Saturday afternoon?

I need to pop down to the Masonic, the girl that was running it worked in the Annexe before. I went in there on the Friday of Gold cup and it was packed. UTG

To be fair to the frightened Bohemian elite of Gloucester Road, we can't even do a simple thread like this without behaving like dickheads, and that's even before we've gone to the pub.

Independent shops?like sainsburys coop costa boston and the pubs which are nearly all owned by the big players in the pub game.scatter it with big business charity shops. Yep pretty independent. Weirdly I am with hanbury on this one

And what would you replace Gloucester Road with after you've bulldozed it?

Weirdly I am with hanbury on this one Between my road and the next junction there's an independent butchers, bakers, green grocers, bike shop, hairdressers, barber's, two cafes, bar, curry house and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Some of the views on this thread are laughable.

What a useful addition to the thread. And what would you replace Gloucester Road with after you've bulldozed it? Social housing? Not a bad idea but the council make far more from business rates I imagine than bulldozing the best part of a mile and a half from the Arches to the Mem and replacing it with social housing.

If they can shut Bristol Bridge to cars why not Gloucester road ? would solve a lot of issues and buses/bikes/electric scooters could pass without fear of death from car drivers, and just think of the health benefits as well ?

Get one of those stupid bikes with the bucket upfront they put the kids in, plenty of room for south American cactus plant drinks from the many overseas food outlets

Some views by some so high on their moral perch are laughable. So what is it about my views,as I assume it's me you're talking about, is so laughable to you? Is it the fact I don't want to support a business that treated it's staff so poorly or that I don't agree with bulldozing an entire street?
