Put him training with the development Squad that will concentrate minds Not sure PFA rules allow that unless the player agrees, or he could sue for constructive dismissal, I guess just like one of us we were demoted at work. I sense it's got to the stage where Wael just needs to buy up his contract.

Got home from work in time to see the last few minutes. I have to say Ayunga looked very leggy and non-league.
There’s some work to be done with him I think.

Obviously it was a bit of a strollathon given the heat, the stage of their preparation and the quality of the opposition but looking at Little, calm and economical with the ball, it struck me that if he’s finally over his injuries and can perform like the player we thought we were signing last season then that’s another quality addition to the seven close-season new faces.

22 players and no Westbrooke. Have we sold him?

Decent run out in hot conditions.
Bit disappointing second half. We didn't keep the ball as well and let Manor Farm into the game. However, we still had chances to add more goals.
Keepers can't be judged as they had nothing to do and the defence was never under any pressure. Upson was surprisingly the pick of the midfield.
Ayunga looked a handful but failed to convert 2 or 3 very good chances.
Everyone looked a bit rusty as you would expect and Westbrooke, Ogogo and Mitchell-Lawson didn't feature at all.
As usual, very difficult to judge the team or individuals in a friendly against such low ranked opponents. Good to see the lads back in action though.

Not surprised at all that Upson was the pick of the midfield - he’s got more pedigree and quality than the others combined. Said it before, but feel he is massively underrated by most of us Gasheads.

Great to see most of the younger lads perform well and is certainly something to look forward to as to who will get a chance when competitive action begins.

For me, Upson is a very good footballer. What let's him down is his pace in general, he just seems a bit behind things in general sometimes.

Not to be critical of the thread (had to pop out so just catching up with everything now) ... but the final score was?

Upson impressed me in the first half, controlled the game and looked intelligent in possession. If Garner wants to play possession based football next year I can see him having a role to play. It will also be interesting to see if Zain Walker breaks through into the first team at any point this season, I know he's highly rated by Rovers and he made some good passes and took his goals well.
In the second half, we controlled the game less and let Manor Farm have a few more chances. Rodman was probably our best player, looked dangerous on the right hand side. Setup the goal nicely for Tomlinson.
Hargreaves was lively, Mehew impressed me as well actually, hadn't seen much of him before today but he linked up with Upson well. Ayunga looks raw and evidently needs some shooting practice but with his strength and determination, I do think there is a player there.
A decent run out all in all, will be interesting to see how the squad manages the step up to playing against League 2 and potentially Championship teams if we have friendlies sorted against them.

I thought it was a good run out and it was very good to be able to see a Rovers performance after such a long lay-off. Everyone was a little rusty - as you'd expect.
First half, Upson looked in complete control of the midfield. I thought Walker looked sharp. Defence weren't tested, but looked strong and we got a lot of good movement down the flanks. Good to see Josh Hare back. Nicolson looked promising, without firing on all cylinders.
Second half was a bit more of a contest. Hargreaves looked very busy in Midfield. Ayungu looked a handful, but has plenty of rough edges. Rodman did pretty well and Tomlinson took his goal well.
Nothing particularly remarkable about the game, but there was a distinct change in style - mostly shorter passing, with balls to feet.
I hope Manor Farm were able to make a few bob out of the fixture. I wouldn't normally have gone, but forked out a fiver for the stream. Well done to the Gascast team for setting this up.

Not surprised at all that Upson was the pick of the midfield - he’s got more pedigree and quality than the others combined. Said it before, but feel he is massively underrated by most of us Gasheads. There's a reason. Don’t understand the dislike of Upson. Signed on a free, played 84 games in all comps for us over two seasons, more MOM performances this season on here than any other player, scored some incredible goals, one of the first names on the team sheet under 3 different managers with us, clearly liked by those who understand football, more experience in the Championship than the rest of the squad combined, something like 300+ professional games in the Championship and League 1. Can’t imagine what your reasons are to be fair.
