So tell me to get facked or whatever but this is interesting. Many Reds saying cheap appointment etc, Lansdown must sell up (ha!) etc. What I find interesting is the two men appointed to back him up. Discuss. Mods move if required.

They finished 12th last season, have only been in the top division 4 seasons in the past 100 years and the entire world is facing a global pandemic where the majority of clubs are relying on their owners to survive. As much as I want to laugh at this, I just have that nagging feeling that it might come back to bite us. Low expectations can be a good thing. It must certainly be a blow though, now more than ever City must have been expecting a big appointment, Lansdown gave it the big un on the radio when LJ left, its taken 5 weeks and they've ended up at this!

This looks like a doomed appointment. There are talks of protests etc and I can’t see Holden getting a fair crack at the whip. The Teds won’t get behind him.

It has been interesting watching this unfurl, a few weeks ago the names linked with the job by fans were the likes of Hughton, Gerrard, a few top European coaches, Dyke etc then we heard City were right to wait as Howe became available, i almost expected Sir Alex to be tempted by Lansdowne's money!, but all these names want promises of financial backing and SL seems reluctant to through cash at it ad /hoc and IMHO he is right not to do so, they went down that road before and hence we have the 82 ers! Its entertaining listening to some fans saying Lansdowne out and the like following Geof Twentymans interview, which to quote a well known pundit is 'unbelievable Geof!'.
One fan hit the nail on the head after hearing that the football club seem to be the poor relations of the franchise and he says ' that's because in Rugby Bristol are a BIG club, in football City are a relatively minor player' Exactly, just be bloody thankful for what you got for goodness sake!
The Holden appointment may or may not work out , it worked for us with GC ,sort of, didn't it?
Another interesting thing to come out of the Radio Bristol debate was how highly regarded GT is by fans of all Bristol clubs, despite his previous life! there can't be many who have won over both sides in the Bristol divide, perhaps a thread exploring that subject would be of interest?, to kick off i know you would be hard pressed to find any Rovers fan with a bad word to say about John Ateyo, Peter Hooper and the like and more recently i would imagine Steve Phillips is held in high regard by all? who else has managed it? up the Rovers!
