Surprised to hear that, Nicholson seemed like a good outlet in the Cheltenham friendly Hargreaves wasn’t on long and Nicholson wasn’t bad he was average same as most. We defended well ,mostly , didn’t play ourselves in to trouble and looked dangerous on the break at times. A decent if not great away performance but definitely a great result. I thought Nicholson was alright today, the problem was we didn’t have a lot of the ball and when we did have it we often over hit it into the space beyond him where a Sunderland player could mop up. I think he’ll be a big player for us this season.

Lots of positives to take from that, thought the back 3 & goalkeeper were all excellent as were all 3 of the wing backs we used. Dont want to over critical but we didnt keep the ball well enough 2nd half which meant the ball constantly came back at us. Having said that if the ref does his job properly we're playing against 10 men for last 35 mins. Overall a very good start & a point I think pretty much all gasheads would have bitten your hand off for at 3pm UTG

Absolutely no outlet, where is the possession based, fast, flowing attacking football, haven't seen any improvement on the game up there last season, same tactics and same quality of football.
Having said that a draw away from home is fine. Little was man of the match for me.

A backs to the wall performance from Rovers. Sunderland won’t believe they’ve not got the 3 points. They must have had 5 or 6 big chances. Incredible save by the big Fin. Indeed a great back to the walls defensive display but we got the luck we deserved as they should have been down to 10 for most the 2nd half and I doubt those chances would have been created.

Agreed a great backs to the wall performance. Yes that sheed should have walked early 2nd half, but it's possibly best he didn't - you know how great we usually are against 10!

Good game management from Garner, which hasn't often been the case.

Jml was running into the ground second half and I would have taken him off instead of Nicholson. Being under pressure we do know at least Nicholson can unleash a long range shot . Ayunga looked good when he came on but got no service at all. All in all we did better there than last year although I'm not sure were the myth of rovers now playing possession football came from as there was little rovers possession in that game.
99 more points to win the league....

Great defensive performance I actually think scoring so early made us drop very Deep early in the game but I’ll take a draw all day long. UTG!!

Don’t know what to make of that.
On one hand fantastic result against Sunderland no matter where you play them.
On one hand, we got battered and rode our luck with good goalkeeping.
On another we got lucky to make it that far without conceding
On one other we showed strength to make it that long without conceding and playing so deep
On the flip side we were statistically battered, then again it’s Sunderland
Yes it isn’t Garnerball and was like a horrific Coughlanball, but it’s pleasing Ben has put substance before style.
Going by Occam’s razor - utilising the simplest explanation - it’s a good result.
BG cannot be written off so soon but by this one result he’s not the new messiah either. But i was starting to question could we be on the verge of a new era after that first half. I still have many doubts but let’s see how we get on.

I thought we were much more direct with quicker tempo today and didn’t dick about at the back, defended quite well and happy with a point.

PP had a pop ag BG for something Yes. So he’s angry so what! BG and his tactics and Rovers professionalism today was excellent. In other words BG out-Parkinsoned Parkinson. The bloke’s a complete....... well done BG. But next time don’t shrug the shoulders give him some back, which I hope he did. UTG!

Wtf is ‘Garnerball’. People bang on about his fluid style of play, well where is it😂 Two wins out of how many games with awful football? (Not bashing todays game - good point)

We needed to be strong We were strong As I’ve said you won’t win pretty every week and away from home you sometimes need a plan B. We questioned the ability of this side to dig in and they’ve done that. Good signs in my book!

Nicholson and Hargreaves both poor, they need to do better or we need to sign better. Surprised to hear that, Nicholson seemed like a good outlet in the Cheltenham friendly I shouldn’t worry. If the rest of the fan base were saying Nicholson was an awful signing Topper would be arguing he’s the best thing since sliced bread!!!

Cam and Jonah not really done enough since coming on .... Nicholson and Hargreaves both poor, they need to do better or we need to sign better. Come on Topper, are you serious? You don’t sign a new player every time someone has a mediocre match. Blimey if we did our squad would be massive! It just wasn’t Nicholson’s day today. 😉 UTG!
