Wigan seem to be in a Bolton like melt down, still in Admin and signing players on short term contracts and have put John Sheridan in charge, who seems to have developed a knack of getting teams relegated. Please list all his relegations?

A fit Jaakkola will make a huge impact on our season. One of the best gas goalkeepers of all time. Let’s hope he stays fit for the season. . Certainly hope so...My firm is sponsoring his Home Kit!

Why did Garner start Hanlan,he couldn't have been match fit, thank god it was only cramp, what if it was a hamstring. The guy who has never played at any level hasn't got a clue. No positives today and no good 90 minutes under the belt for the youngsters, no yeah's either. I thought pre season Hanlan trained with and played in pre season matches with Gillingham

I went to watch Frome today as I really thought Rovers would get thumped. They showed a lot of resolve which they didn't show in the cupgames, so altogether much better, and where did the ref get all that extra time from?
Meanwhile Frome won 3-0 V Bodmin Town in the FA Cup (Att 250 which was the max they were allowed) I also came across six other gasheads, which surprised me.

I'm becoming quite disillusioned with Rovers... not with the players though, but with those supporters who look for every opportunity to knock the team they claim to support. Great point today lads... UTG.

Please list all his relegations? Chesterfield (x2) and Notts County were both relegated the season he was manager.

Ben and the boys did very well yesterday. I generally write with a 'mindfullness' attitude because I admit to not being able to predict the future. So last week we got outplayed and a bad result, this week for most of the second half we were outplayed and got a great result. It could be argued this was much to do with our amazing goalie, one of the best I've ever seen at Rovers and that is since the 50's. I started to wonder if every great save by him was equivalent to us scoring at the other end, which it is, would Anssi then be our top scorer? Ironically Ben's method of play although diametrically opposed to GC's produced a dogged display exactly the same as the Irishmans and just like his team we came away with a result. So although Ben's dream is the gorgeous model template there are times we have to play the ugly sisters. Considering these young men are often accused of tippy tappy football it's good to know we can also do the opposite and just like GC grind out a result. Yesterday I think they all grew up a bit and along the way hopefully gained confidence and a stronger character. So what about the next game? The truth is no one knows, we are a young and developing team with the same management who are under huge pressure. It's therefore likely there will be inconsistent performances for a while and during the lows even more pressure will be heaped on them. It's definitely a work in progress in a business where instant success is demanded by some. I do feel for the first time in the history of our club that proper investment has been made and will continue to be made. Just this fact in itself is hugely exciting whilst at the same time asking for the fans patience when those fans have had a lifetime of frustration. Our situation now does feel different than ever before with a passionate and reasonably wealthy owner. All I'm going to do is to continue to practice mindfulness every day and expect a bumpy ride, a very bumpy ride which may or may not put the club we all love in a higher and better position than for a very long time.

I like this post as it gives a considered and reasoned opinion to where we are as a club, as for being out played it could be argued that there is just as much merit in the art of defence as there is in the excitement of attack and in that respect you could argue that our defence outplayed there attack and as you say preventing goals is just as important as scoring ,albeit not so exciting .I think you can admire the art of a centre half keeping a renowned striker in his pocket for 90 mins just as much as seeing a spectacular goal being scored, in a nutshell i suppose you admire the one art and are excited by the other.

It was noticeable yesterday that when we got our first goalkick, Sunderland immediately overloaded up top to put pressure on the inevitable ball being played out from the back. When our goalie suddenly kicked it longer there was more space in the middle for our forwards to move into. Thank God for being unpredictable at last.

Well just to add my two pennyworth.. the positives were a much better result than most of us expected, a further reminder just how fortunate we are to have Jakko as our keeper, a sign of a more resilient team than recent performances and a couple of promising looking young forwards. On the downside our midfield looks lightweight and far too easily overrun (the 2nd half was crying out for Ogogo), the manager seems very reluctant to adapt to the situation on the pitch and we continue to have very few scoring opportunities.

Istm that the last hour, say, at Sunderland was similar enough to the last hour under GC at Ipswich. One of which is being used as evidence that Garner's team is not up to it, the other touted as the high-watermark of GC's team's effectiveness.

A good performance by The Gas yesterday. I liked the way they stuck at it, and used pace and intelligence. They had a game plan and it worked. 7 new starts ? They played for each other and only one yellow card (time-wasting)despite defending for most of the game. This was more like a "never say die" Rovers. Look at how many players threw themselves in front of the equalising shot to try and stop it. It's a long season, but a good start.

We also did it well within the laws of the game not bordering on the other side of the law, as Wycombe and Shrewsbury did at the Mem last season. Parkinson should really be congratulating us on a professional job.

Absolutely agree and mentioned similar earlier on in the thread. I was at the Ipswich game and watched yesterday on I-Follow... my summary to my brother was “very similar to the Ipswich win last season”. For me, that shows adaptability and playing to strengths. We keep hearing negatives about Garner not having a “plan B” but that was situational leadership in my view.

No positives today and no good 90 minutes under the belt for the youngsters, no yeah's either. What an embarrassing post! Did you have two posts prepared before yesterday’s game? The one you didn’t end up needing to use was, Why didn’t Garner start Hanlan. What’s the point in signing a striker if he’s not going to play him, he will have been fit and ready having done his preseason with Gillingham. The guy who has never played at any level hasn’t got a clue. No doubt if we had been hammered and played a couple of youngsters you’d have slaughtered Garner for ruining their confidence in a game that was crying out for experienced players.
