Personally I expect us to lose - this is arguably (on paper) the hardest game of the entire season on match day 1! Sunderland - and away! So it's a big ask. I'd be over the moon with a point. As such, my real hope is that we aren't smashed by 3 or 4 (or more goals) and that we give a really good account of ourselves - maybe losing by 1 and playing well or even losing by 2 if we play some really good stuff. I think that would give me some hope that against a more mediocre team we'd have a decent shot of coming away with the points. Hate to sound so negative, but think Sunderland are a different level to us at present. Yeah, you're right we were a different level to them in March  |

Tomorrow is when the season starts . Couldn’t give a toss about those two warm up games in the cups. It’s all about the league and this is where it starts!

So I woke up early this morn as I am running a friend to the airport. The sun came up over the neighbouring houses like a beacon of hope, a symbolistic icon in a world of unpleasantness. The season starts today, what happened yesterday, the day before, and the day before that is history. Prime your HDMI cables, save the wife’s debit card as your preferred payment method, dust your laptop screens, uncoil those charging cables, book a priority slot in your favourite sofa spot, put the beers on ice (unless like Phil you like your beer warm), check the neighbours WiFi signal is up to scratch, don those undersized football shirts, tell anyone who is raving about the premier league being back to feck off, warn the wife you maybe grumpy or elated at 4:45 coz we Rovers fans only have two settings, strap yersel in, Rovers are back! It’s gonna be a helluva ride! C’mon you blue and white beauties!

Looking at their forum bar a couple they think we are going to get spanked 4 0, reminds me of their fans outside the welly, "nice to meet you guys but we are only here for one season"😂😂

What a great opportunity for us to begin our league campaign with a positive display and to put a smiles back on our faces.Let's go for it at this lovely stadium and recall that it was Telford not long ago(Although their stadium is even better now than when we won there).
Let's go for it Gas and stimulate some optimism and move on from the negativity.

I think the biggest mistake we made at the start of our stay was to have the attitude we had a god given right to win every game because we were Bristol Rovers.
Once we woke up to the fact that there were some very good teams in the conference and treated it with the respect it deserved we started to make progress.
Sunderland need to treat L1 with more respect, given their inability to get out of it.

The first 3-5 games throw up some bizarre results every year.
There will be teams winning 5-0 there will be shock scores like safc 0 brfc 3 which will not reflect the season as a whole.
Tin hats on...the seasons about to begin.....

Just been checking the odds and we are not fancied at all!
There are 8 players fancied to score before our first option of Ayunga!
How about a few quid on Ehmer to score the winner late on in a hard fought 1-0 win?
I’m not optimistic about today, just hope we don’t get hammered and embarrass ourselves!

People saying today is when our season starts is abit silly and a joke. It started last Saturday and continued Tuesday.The friendlies and there results mean nothing but the last two professional cup games did.
I believe we are going to lose very heavy..3 or 4 nil.But the least I except is a honest hard working performance and a sign of what BG is trying to do.Otherwise the pressure is on.
