Haven't been too impressed with him defensively so far, looks unfit. Tidy going forward though. Didn't look unfit then! Yeah nice finish. He looks to me more of an attacker than a defender as he's done some good stuff going forward so far. |

Great build up play for the goal.
It’s the first time I’ve seen us play since Sunderland, but on that first 45 I’m sorry but I have to agree to a degree with gas365 that it doesn’t seem much of an evolution on Coughlanball and at times it was a bit too easy for Cheltenham to carve us up.
That said some of the players look tidy and as we all know - it’s a preseason game.
I’d agree that A Trialist looks promising!

Ayunga looks promising holds the ball up quite well, Nicholson has that bit of quality about him and Westbrooke is always making himself available and looks decent. Trialist is good going forward but again the left side is where we look weak defensively.

Decent first half with most of our players showing some good touches at times and making skilful contributions.
Upson and Westbrooke a good combination. I like the trialist, looks like he's trained/played at a higher level.

My view is that overall Cheltenham look tidier and more purposeful on the ball because they have options in midfield. We have largely found ourselves passing amongst the back line with only Upson as the nearest option but he’s static and so easily marked out of the game by the opposition. This then leads to Harris banging hopeful balls to the front line some we win but most we lose and Cheltenham come again. We certainly don’t look a league above Cheltenham, I’d say it’s two league two teams having a bit of a scrap with the occasional bit of quality from Cheltenham and from Nicholson for us. |

Would quite like to see us play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 in one of these friendlies just to see what it looks like.
Not convinced we’re solid enough with only Westbrooke + Upson/Grant in the middle, or have enough passing options going forwards.

That's why we see things differently it's 100% different from long ball after long ball. We look to attack both sides don't look predictable and the players look comfortable in possession and look for a forward pass. But it is pre season and certainly won't get carried away with it whatever the result. |

Ayunga looks a real handful but can see him struggling against better defenders. Pleased with what I've seen from him so far though.
Nicholson best player for us in that half.
Westbrooke calm on the ball and playing simple balls.
Harries the pick of the defenders but too many long balls over the top to lose possession.
Being cut open far too easily, not a fan of the system more than anything. Easily exposed on the wing.
Trialist hasn't impressed me defensively. Easily beaten, bambi on ice at times, very left footed. But one excellent cross and a well taken goal so who knows, jury is still out!
All in all looks a good workout and some key partnerships getting some minutes together.

Generally speaking our opponents have looked more dangerous. I like the look of JA he needs polishing but has a presence, also needs a decent service which he isn't getting The streaming is excellent |

I should add the one time Upson dropped short to pick up the ball he was able to ping a pass out to a lad out wide and get us going forward. Maybe something to learn from that....
