First half wasn't that great. Maybe a slight improvement on Saturday but not much. Too many sideways and backwards passes and nobody apart from Nichsolson seemed to show any urgency or desire to get forward. Other than the goal on the stroke of half time - which was well worked and well taken - I don't think their keeper had a save to make and I can't even remember us having a corner. Cheltenham looked brighter and created the better chances. Ruben Reid hit the bar and Jaakkola had to make a couple of decent stops. Second half much better. The defence looked more comfortable and brought the ball forward instead of launching long balls from the edge of our own penalty area. They were giving the midfield possession in better areas and Mitchell-Lawson and Hargreaves were very lively. Mehew also did his chances no harm with an encouraging display. As axegas says above, we played with more purpose and energy and could in the end have won by more. I'm now seriously questioning what I originally thought would be our best 11. Stand out players tonight were Nicholson, Little, Hargreaves and Mitchell-Lawson. In the second half - for the first time in pre season - we actually looked like a team that knew what they were doing. Before the recent friendlies I thought we’d be going 4-3-3 with Westbrooke, Grant and Upson in midfield with JML and Nicholson either side of JCH. The defensive line up (apart from Ehmer) would be a bit of a puzzle.

Much improved tonight especially the second half. Hargreaves controlled the midfield and had a lot of energy, Little looked good and I also like Kelly.JML fast and clever also like Zain Walker. We still look like kids which we are, have we got too many, how will they do against seasoned hard pros these for me are the questions. I guess they will have to learn the hard way.

Completely forgot about Daly and Rodman as well! Seem to have lots of numbers going into the season which is good. Just gotta hope a few of them gel.

Little has played himself into my first XI for Ipswich & Sunderland - looks very comfortable at RCB & brings the ball out excellently.
Also impressed with Grant, JML, trialist and Hargreaves; who seems to get better each time I see him.

If Little is coming back to form and fitness and is proven at this and a higher level does a flat back four now become more viable? It would create a problem with who would play left back with Leahy more of a wingback. Sounds as though Kelly has used the lockdown to get himself into good shape so perhaps that is the answer? Would then be a nice dilemma for BG to decide his best centre half partnership!

As I've suggested before is Little less likely to pick up small strains/niggles at RCB rather than tearing up and down the wing as a RW?

I thought the best part of Little's game yesterday was coming forward and linking, particularly with Hargreaves. He's got more freedom to do this from the wing back position.

Is there any highlight footage of this game....or even just the goals?
