Actually think I prefer the look of the back 3 with Little & Kelly as the wide CBs.
Provides better balance than when there’s three traditional CBs back there IMO.

Mitchell-Lawson did ever so well to win the penalty. Cheltenham couldn't handle his pace. Good touch to get away from the defender. Could he have passed instead of cutting inside? |

With the subs and the game breaking up we look a lot more purposeful and dangerous. Fair bit of space in midfield for us to play in now

Playing some good stuff now. No conventional striker out there to lump the ball up to and the three tricky attackers are putting great pressure on the cheltenham defense and playing some really nice football.

Cameron Hargreaves is really coming on isn’t he. Hoping for a big season for him. I’m was just thinking the same. His movement when looking for a pass is fantastic, if we had more doing the same we’d play with a better tempo. We’re definitely playing shorter passes under Garner but it can be quite laboured. Hargreaves gives us penetration and needs to start v Ipswich. |

and I'm sure it's not Devante Cole - he is 6'1", and that player isn't It is Devante Cole unless he has a twin, not a prolific goal scorer but quality player at this level and with our lack of experienced strikers he would be a good addition to the side. |

If you cut inside you can find a shot or get fouled as he did. Don't mind seeing the winger have a bit of selfishness in those situations, all the best ones do. |

I can’t figure out how to judge this second half- we look a lot better but we’ve made 8 changes so it’s probably not our first team seeing as there are so many development squad players. |

Also I can’t imagine the Sunderland game will be as open as this second half and much more tight in the middle of the pitch like in the first half when we didn’t have the best options.
We seem to have some talented youth coming through though based on this second half. Maybe there is some method to this bringing on youngsters madness.....

He has made a big difference to the midfield since half time and seems to be full of energy and willing to put in a shift which always goes along way with Rovers fans ! Hope he makes the starting 11 |

I am a massive Cam Hargreaves fan. No coincidence for me we've looked best today and back end of last season with him on the pitch. He breaks up play so high up and provides that link between midfield and attack we've been missing for years.
Grant has looked excellent here too and also special mentions for JML and Little this half. Squad looking strong and balanced.
For me our best side on paper is
Anssi
Little/Hare - kilgour/Baldwin - Ehmer - Leahy
Grant- Westbrooke
JML - Hargreaves- Nicholson
JCH
The dilemma is if we want to play this 3 at the back system, one has to drop out out of Nicholson, JML and Hargreaves assuming JCH starts. I fear that will be Cam who misses out and we will see more of what we saw in the first half with that link between midfield and attack not quite there. That's when we start lumping to JCH.
overall happy with that tonight and think we'll do well this season.

Enjoyed that, especially the second half. Mahew also looks like a prospect, certainly knows when to pick out a pass.
