For the next month or so, at least, the only way we can watch Rovers -home or away - is by using the iFollow stream. A match pass costs £10.
How much of that tenner goes to Rovers?
I wrote to Tom Gorringe (Rovers’ Commercial Director) yesterday, to see if he could clarify. Tom replied very promptly and his answer surprised me a bit.
“Yes, clubs receive the revenues from iFollow. Ordinarily this is around 80% (minus the VAT), however for the upcoming season clubs will receive all of the revenue (minus the VAT)”.
“Ordinarily, clubs receive all of the revenue for purchases through their site. Therefore if you purchase your pass for an away game through our site, that revenue will be allocated to us. However, for the upcoming season, the home clubs will receive the streaming revenues for the ‘usual’ away club attendance, on top of their own”.
Apart from the current season, then, how do EFL Digital, who run iFollow, know that they should send the money to Rovers?
Tom - “We would always advise that any purchases that you make on iFollow you do so via our site and not that of any teams that we are playing as that revenue will more than likely go to the other team”.
Please note the last sentence and purchase through the Rovers website

Tried subscribing to tomorrow's match via iFollow. Pressed "subscribe" then signed in, then chose Ipswich match then pressed "Subscribe Now" and it just sits there on step 2 Payment Confirmation with a ball bouncing up? Has anyone purchased tomorrow's pass yet? If so, any advice appreciated. PS Have watched iFollow before. Followed Ipswich Town guidance www.itfc.co.uk/siteassets/image/202021/202021-misc/ifollow---how-to-buy-a-match-pass.pdf Same happened to me via my laptop but worked when I used my iPhone. Ok Tried using iPad. Was going to use laptop next via Google Chrome browser. I'll see if that works in an hour. if not, will try to subscribe on phone and then watch via laptop. Thanks. PS Also doing via Gas website as indicated above.

Now lets see if I can actually see the game an hour before on my Windows laptop! Never had a problem with iFollow before. UTG PS 1-2 a repeat of last year when GC left?

I can't see us scoring so 0-2 or 3 I hope I'm totally wrong.

Away Win - Think our Fast Frontish Three will be too much for brittle Ipswich defence. Penalty on the cards !!
Vital we win the midfield battle today.

It sounds like they're playing without a goalie, so I reckon you're right that we'll nick it by the odd goal 😊 I wouldn’t take too much notice of this. It’s all bollox designed to lull the opposition into a false sense they will have an easy game. The Ipswich guys who do play will see this as a chance to stake a regular place and up their game. As for the bloke who doesn’t want to play, I hope they dock his wages. If I was the buying club, this would put me off signing the player - wrong attitude completely.

Midfield battle is the most interesting thing for me today, and with this system in general actually. If teams break quickly on us it’s often just going to be Westbrooke & Grant in the middle on their own, which could leave us quite open at times. Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Finding it impossible to call the result today. So very excited for a return to football and hoping for some entertainment though.
Hopefully we can continue our recent trend of not embarrassing ourselves in this cup as we often do in the bigger one.

Line-up predictions? JVS Hare Kilgour Ehmer Harries Leahy Grant Westbrooke Nicholson Hargreaves JML Your line up which is very possibly the selection that will be made consists of 5 players the Rovers Website lists as defenders, 5 players listed as midfielders, 1 goalkeeper and of course no listed strikers. Anyone recognise the imbalance - I wonder if Ben will.

Think BG will get one or two in but as we know it's the hardest position to fill.

Certainly do, and listening to BG's Ipswich interview he appears unfazed that we are starting without a proven striker, in a few hours we will know the answer!.

I say start with Ayunga, will give us a feeler about how attuned he will be to playing against players of a league one standard and is the most obvious replacement to JCH that we have in the squad right now.
