For the record Hanlan has a better scoring record than JCH had when he joined us. Before he joined us JCH 190 senior appearances & 29 goals (0.15 goals per game) Brandon Hanlan 124 appearances & 22 goals (0.18 goals per game). For the record he's got a far inferior one to Tom Nichols! Although not really sure we should be comparing him to a No 9/JCH as he wore the No 7 at Gillingham and played alongside a No 9 at 6' and not the biggest build he doesn't look like the typical L1 No 9 to me, Ayunga fits that description better.

I’d play a straight back four tell the fullbacks you rarely go past the halfway line , put grant very deep with westbrooke / Hargreaves just in front of him and get the ball forward quickly, tell them to mix it up sometimes wide to Nicholson - JML sometimes straight down the middle to Ayunga- new lad. There you go 4-2-4 fast and attacking with wingers , direct great exciting football. Would get better results than we have since Christmas I’d put my mortgage on it. I’m concerned we will win the league with that set up. With BeeGee in charge, I'd just be happy with stayin alive.

I am pleased with this signing. He is certainly the type of player I would have wanted, (apparently, strong skillfull and has pace); and at the right stage of his career.
We all want a proven striker, but if they are genuinely the type that are almost guaranteed to get 15 - 20 goals, they will invariably be out of our price range, and will be looking to step up a division themselves anyway.
I would honestly prefer to go with potential than spend a big fee for an average scoring record, often based on one good season. I believe that there is not much difference in the quality of players available at the £2-300k mark and those available on a free. I would rather this type of signing, than paying a large fee for someone like Eoin Doyle. I can't say he impressed me much when at Bradford. it's a case of trying to decide if he just had that one good season, or whether his career will now take off. It's as big a gamble as signing potential. JCH did not have a stand out record in comparison to Stefan Payne and Tom Nichols.
Of course, we do not (yet) know what fee we have paid, or will end up paying in compensation, but I am pleased that he is a permanent signing rather than another loan.
I doubt he will start, but it would be nice to see him get some minutes Saturday. I also think this increases the chance of Jonah starting now, as I do not think he would have, but now we have another player who might come close to matching Jonah's strength, and seemingly has some skill and pace too.
Welcome to the Gas, Brandon - you have chosen well!
UTG!

Very quick and will really worry defenders, a guy that will run the channels he has not shown that he is a poacher, but Rovers fans should not underrate him. I would play both him And JA together, a combination of presence and athleticism, they need polishing but the two of them when both on the pitch will give opponents plenty to think about. He could also form part of a fluid front three with JML and Nicholson. On the bases of what I have seen so far this season we will not score many goals without JA on the field. Play JA and BH together and I think they will be a handful at the top end of the park.

black white what does it matter, don’t start that sh** If you read what I wrote that’s what I’m saying.. Wasn’t any need to mention it at all. There quite clearly wasn’t anything wrong with what was said, you’re just trying to cause trouble.

Think they will take it in turns through the middle, depending on what Garner wants in each game. Ipswich played with 3 upfront like we do and their player in the middle, was running the channels and creating space for the other 2 to move into. Hanlan will be that type of player. Ayunga will be more physical and win more in the air, but probably won't get in behind as much. Gives us a different option, but it's a big risk having 3 young strikers. 2 of not scored a league goal yet and the other one scored 4 league goals last season. He was 22 the last time he played a competitive game, so he has time on his side.

Good signing here. I remember him as a fast, hardworking player against us. He's not going to finish like JCH but he's got goals in our league and has played regularly for the last 2 seasons. And we need a battle-hardened player ready to go. Personally, would love to see us play 2 up front, so Hanlan with Ayunga or Daly (whoever's showing form).

Not who I was hoping for but obviously hope he proves to be a massive success. Worries me a bit how few Gills fans are sorry to see him go. They rate Ehmer but most don't seem fussed that Hanlan has chose to leave. His finishing is clearly a weakness he'll need to improve if he's going to score the 15+ goals we'll need from our No.9. Lets hope like JCH his career takes off at Rovers. In fairness, Coventry didn’t seem too fussed about letting JCH go. Not excited by this signing but I have egg on my face from JCH so who knows. you've almost written something positive there.

Welcome to The Gas, Brandon. Let's hope he's fit and raring to go for Saturday. has played in all 5 pre-season games for Gills, so should be able to start but that could be a bit of a gamble as only Ehmer knows how he plays.

I agree and I would play 442 as well but we know BG probably won’t. Sometimes we seem to make it harder for ourselves by complicating things. We’re a third division team in a physical division. UTG!

Time to let it go now, he has apologised. So I should stop because you said I should? Hang in a minute he apologised, that apology is half hearted. He said sorry but I didn’t know how to spell his name. That’s not an apology. I will leave it now because I want to. I’m not trying to start an argument with anyone, I’m not over sensitive and I’m not making an issue. I’m a mid 30s white bloke, I was offended by what was wrote so made my opinion known. Welcome Brandon to our club, give 100% and you will do just fine. Good luck UTG!! Jesus wept. Welcome to GasChat, you will fit in well here! 😂

I really believe we need two up top, not too bothered about the formation behind, we just need to keep getting that round thing into the box to give the forwards a chance, if you don’t create chances you ain’t gonna score any goals!

Welcome to the club Brandon!
I'm not going to lie, the fairly small goals tally over the last 2 seasons does concern me a little bit, but he does have experience at this level and is young enough to hopefully progress now, so fingers crossed he'll get more goals for us, and work well with the other forward players like JML and Nicholson, to bring them into games.

Welcome to the Gas Brandon I'm not overly concerned about his previous record, the past has proven that it's not always a given that a new club automatically means a record good or indifferent will continue. Imo the most important thing is that he fits the system that we want to play, not all centre forwards score bucket loads of goals but they are vital to how the team plays. Bamford at Leeds is a good example. If he gets double figures but allows others to do the same then he'll be well worth whatever we end up paying
