Got rid of the anachronistic system of monarchy. A Republic...like we should be I see that China are putting pressure on Barbados to become a republic and remove HRH as Head of State. China are using the loans for infrastructure and other development as leverage because they want to bring Barbados, and other developing countries into their sphere of influence. Would you like GB to become a republic and Chinese satellite country as well? Be careful what you wish for. Although, of course you are a Corbin hat-wearing Marxist so that’s probably your idea of utopia. I hope you’re not a Muslim, you end up in one of those ‘re-education’ camps like the Uighur people of Northern China. Link to the news story?

Yes, a Muslim, a follower of the teachings of the prophet Mohammed. They don’t like religion in China, especially religions with extreme followers who tend to blow up and shoot anyone who doesn’t agree with or criticises their beliefs. To that end the Chinese authorities, who really aren’t very nice, being Communists, have resorted to the mass imprisonments and re-education of followers of that faith in their country. Thats why I hope Oldie isn’t a Muslim. He might find himself in hot water with the authorities if we ever became a totalitarian state. It was a bit tongue in cheek really.

I’m not really bothered about Barbados either way. If they want to become a Chinese satellite state good luck to them. As long as they don’t expect us to bail them out they can do as they wish.

Any need to be so hostile all the time? I was asking you you explain what you meant? Christ, just forget it.

Boring isn't it. Might be interesting if he argued his case...if He's just hostile with every point he tries to put across. Can't be bothered.

Just because we don’t agree with each other doesn’t mean either of us is completely right. you are a devout Marxist, I believe in the free market and personal freedom. I also passionately believe in free speech and would defend your right to spout your Marxist diatribes. I don’t think Marxism is very keen on people having an alternative opinion and expressing it. And that’s the fundamental difference. Tell me, as a matter of interest, when was your Damascian moment of truth? When you changed from being a Capitalist business owner in the most hardcore Capitalist country in the world , to giving it all away to become a devoted Marxist.

I cannot answer that question because it never happened. My youthful desire for revolution evaporated by about the age of 20. I too believe in the free market, with some passion, but not an unfettered one, nor one that enriches a tiny minority at the expense of a huge majority. It is my impression, like many, you confuse a free market with nationalism, whereas in fact a true free market resists nationalism as a constraint. Take for example the free movement of capital AND Labour. A true free market demands both, nationalism wants only free movement of capital, because nationalists have a political agenda, not an economic one.

Why would you ever hope someone else isn’t of a certain religion unless you were uncomfortable about people practicing it? Either that or you seriously believe that the UK would become a totalitarian state if it was to be a republic, which is just nonsense.

How much freedom do you think would be allowed if the people behind BLM were in charge? As for people practicing religion, carry on. I’ve said on here before I believe in live and let live. Practice what you want, but don’t try and fundamentally change my country, it’s laws and traditions to fit in with your beliefs. I think that is a slightly different view to that taken by a totalitarian state like China, as I suspect you very well know. Is that so terrible?

As opposed to the Spectator or the Guardian? Ha, you won’t find any articles critical of China in the Guardian ffs. You know, the paper that was founded and financed by a slave trader. Funny how all the Marxists aren’t demanding it be shut down, and trying to set fire to it’s offices and print works. Bunch of two-faced hypocrites.

I believe I saw it referred to a an article in the Sunday Telegraph. The Chinese method of gaining influence in 3rd world countries through tying trading agreements into financial assistance packages is referred to as the belt and bag or something similar. They are gaining more and more traction in African states especially, I believe the Soviets did the same in the 50’s and 60’s. One such adventure nearly led to world war 3 as a result of their interfering in Cuba and putting siting ballistic missiles there.

Worked out well last time we tried, as it did for France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Libya, Egypt, Iraq...... Only joking, if and when it happens, it will be fine.
