BG has agreed to let Tom Mehew, Lucas Tomlinson and Kieran Phillips go out on loan.
Kieran has joined Chippenham Town until January
Good luck guys, gain some experience and come back raring to go.

Mehew should remain as he can score goals and is easily good enough to play in the 1st Team.

Plenty of time for Tom to make his mark here with us, but for now I think it’s a good idea going out on loan to get regular minutes and aid his development.
Same with Phillips and Tomlinson.

Poor judgment by Garner regarding Mehew who is the only natural scorer we have at the moment who is delivering. Has Garner got a perverse aversion to natural talent?

I would only let Tom go to a high calibre club on the understanding he gets considerable game time, otherwise he should stay put with us and push for a place in the first team. After all we are desperate for players who can stick the ball in the net and Tom has that ability. Not sure I back BG on this one

With the amount of midfielders we now have TM going out on loan is the correct decision as he won't get enough game time to aid his development as he is alot lower down the pecking order for selection. A season in L2 would be preferable at a team like Exeter/Cheltenham who tend to play football and not lump ball.

It’s brilliant he has impressed against Walsall & Oxford in the Trophy. Though it is quite a different proposition against the likes of Peterborough, Hull, Charlton & the like in a competitive league match. A loan move for valuable experience is correct in my opinion. He is still a kid, there is plenty of time to ease him into the first team squad.

Poor judgment by Garner regarding Mehew who is the only natural scorer we have at the moment who is delivering. Has Garner got a perverse aversion to natural talent? Ha-ha, natural goal scorer?? Even Tom in his interview said he was a defensive midfielder, much more so than his dad, and had been surprised when he’d scored. Reckon he was surprised he’d even had two shots let alone two goals. I have high hopes for Tom but let’s not strangle his development with unreasonable claims that he’s a natural goal scorer and set him up as a saviour who cannot live up to that billing. Good prospect, let him develop at a reasonable pace and don’t pin our hopes of L1 survival on the shoulders of someone who we shouldn’t want to have more than a handful of first team starts by the end of the season.

Rovers made 9 changes and Oxford made 7 from their previous league games.

Not sure I back BG on this one BG said that Lee Mansell finds the right "fit" regarding which clubs we loan them too, and he also liaises closely with the clubs while they are there. In LM we trust!

Mehew is far too modest regarding his own game, but I believe he has got what it takes and I would rather he learnt his trade with us and not give others the benefit.

Putting things into perceptive Tom has only just stopped playing for the U18yrs squad. He is 19 and just embarked on the U23 team in the Development squad. He is trained and watched by professional coaches who know his potential. His statistics will be very well logged by them. There is a saying if your good enough your old enough. The vast majority of fans will only have seen him play in the "dafty cup" this season where he scored twice. However those 2 games were against Walsall and Oxford who like Rovers effectively put out their development teams. So they in effect were stepping stones in his development at which he shone. As the saying goes 2 swallows do not a summer make. 2 goals in a development game do not make a consistent L1 striker. Keep it up Tom I trust the coaches to do the right thing and loan him out to a club who play at a higher standard than U23 football at L1 standard
