Are we back to penalties not counting then? The issue is that it indicates an issue in creating chances if you rely on penalties so much to win games- the question is can you score when you don’t get the penalties? On today’s evidence so far you can see why some might be concerned about the “we only win with penalties” statistic. Do we have to go through this again? Or are you still unhappy with the way we score goals?

Poor first half. All the pre-match buzz has definitely gone. We’re playing right into Burtons hands for slowing the game down and just lumping it forward. We seem to do some nice passing moves at the back, which is all well and good if you’re drawing Burton onto you, before hitting them as you drive forward - but we just pass it about at the back and then lump it up to Hanlan to chase when most of the time it goes straight to a Burton player. Not really sure what the tactics are, but Garner needs to give them a rocket at half time. Most teams won’t be bothered if the opposition is passing it about amongst their back 4, some might even get a buzz out of the lack of ideas on display. Yes Especially if you are the home team and favourites

Poor first half - we have not tested the Burton keeper at all in fact there is no need for him to be on the pitch at all. I think immediately for the second half we should bring on our new signing to add more variables in the final third.

A surprising amount of long ball. Need to play ball to feet and get forward more. Hanlan looking dangerous but needs more service. Tutonda strong in defence but I'd like to see more of his attacking flair second half. Oztumer on for Daly or McCormick might be the ticket.

Burton letting us have the ball at the back and not getting drawn in. Clearly done their pre-match analysis.
Will be interesting to see if Garner can change it up in the second half so we can get in behind them and get the ball in midfield a bit more. Solid at the back. UTG

Garner obviously knows this and signing Otzumer shows that he’s looking to sort it. We have to be patient, we look solid today we haven’t played badly we just need to up the tempo and try and spread to wide , stretch Burton.

Not great but not bad I'd say. Agree that tempo needs to be upped to really put Burton under the pump in the second half. We should push on to win a game there for the taking. Our strength on the bench may end up being the difference.
0-0 at half time isn't terrible when we've been completely comfortable. Especially when you see how little goals have been scored today.

Standard - drop my ‘Garner shroud’ and start looking forward to games and it has been a very forgettable first half.

Yeah burtons two centre half’s looking very comfortable with the long balls. It’s crying out for us to keep it on the floor and play through them. Hopefully Garner can see that and get the players to see that as we speak.

Like I said to him last week if we hadn't been awarded those two penalties they would have been goal scoring opportunities anyway. You earn penalties. They aren't just handed out when the ref feels like it.

That obviously doesn’t bother you but it bothers me.

Not a great watch first half but we didn’t concede so every cloud. Half time has given me the chance to email San Miguel ref their “its not a quick beer claims” I’m nearly out! Might have to hit the Jamiesons which is normally reserved for victories, here’s hoping! 🤞🏻

Still the same first halves this season. The second should bring better intentions.

Wasn't getting excited about today's game and now I know why. However another 45mins to go so we can live in hope..... Bloody typical if they went 1-0 up? 🙄

What bothers me is you keep going on as if penalties are only worth half a goal and they get handed out for free rather than being earned by creating a goalscoring opportunity.

Neat, tidy, reasonably solid but not threatening, brief glimpses of what our centre forward can do , hopefully can up the tempo half 2 but 0-0 would not be disastrous. Lap top i follow not working just circle going round and round in middle of screen? she who must be obeyed has let me watch on her phone where its fine!
