Think some of the comments about Hanlan are harsh. He caused their backline problems more and more as the game went on. He's getting into good positions. Came close to scoring with his left (a whisker away) before our 1st goal. With the so-called easy header - for me it wasn't because the ball dropped to about waist height when it got to him - do you use your head or foot ? Him and Daly are a good combination - they need to see more of the ball - hopefully Otzumer, Westbrook and Nicholson can give better service in the weeks to come. I agree, people do seem a bit harsh about Hanlan, I think he causes loads of problems for the opposition. Seems to have a bit of everything except the finishing! Let's be honest though he wouldn't be here if he was the finished article.

I thought we were really poor in the first half, I plugged my laptop into the TV to watch the game on telly, the first half was so boring that just before half time I fell asleep, that's never happened before. We were more positive in the second half but I do not understand why when we went 1-0 up we then sat back instead of going for the jugular, looked allot better when the substitutes came on but think they should have come on earlier. We lack experience and strength in the midfield sometime and struggle to impose ourselves on the game. I presume that is why Otzumer was brought in, with his creativity and as the younger players get more experience hopefully we will be able to dictate games more.

Think Otzumer has to start v Shrews at expense of McCormack, and have to find a place for Nicholson which will not be so easy, be harsh to rest Daly but what options are there?

Many have mentioned Hare's performance today and some of the excellent crosses he puts in. It so far appears though that whilst Hanlan has many good attributes to his game being on the end of crosses may not actually be one of them (?) Hanlan so far looks far more menacing holding the ball up , running onto through balls, creating chances for himself running into the box. So maybe Hanlan is better to make diversion runs drawing players out of position creating more space when the cross comes in for someone running in from deep ?? McCormick perhaps ? Anyway was just a ponder out loud your basing this on what ? one header where the ball was dropping ? or all the games he's played ? I see a player who came into us when the season had already started who's really hit the ground running. Fitted into the system from the off, has looked been a top performer in every game, has 2 goals and has come close on a handful of occasions. I'd say a great start.

I'm a massive fan of Hanlan but he's clearly more of an attacking winger than a number 9, a natural goalscorer would've hung back when the cross was put in rather than continue with their run going beyond the path of the ball in the way he did. Fortunately Daly is stepping up to the plate and seems to have a the instinct of a goal scorer, scoring what would've taken Tom Nichols 2 years in a week! Great post! Daly is starting to look the snake replacement we've craved for years... A high tempo high energy front runner with acute finishing instinct. If he and Hanlan can stay fit, we may not need replacement goals when Ayunga recovers, but again it's a huge risk not signing suitable cover.

And now he's bagged a couple in as many games I think his confidence will be sky high and we'll really see him thrive. I actually think he'll be our top scorer this season...

Perhaps Garner can coach him in to being more accruate by giving him a tune on a banjo, whilst leaning on a barn door?

For the statos... heatmaps and stuff available: www.whoscored.com/Matches/1486254/Live/England-League-One-2020-2021-Bristol-Rovers-BurtonQuick one on the heatmaps... Hare vs Dave Looks like they did their homework on us and pinned Dave back with Akins or was it just that they intended to play down the right all along and Dave was just pinned back because of this. Anyways... lets hope he gets a bit more freedom on Tuesday and drive us in to the 3-0 win that I am predicting (including a pen of course)

I think both Hanlan and Daly will get better and better as the season unfolds as they gain more experience and understanding of each other. Both bring different attributes and the net result could be an outstanding partnership.
Both have got to stay fit. That is a tough ask when you consider the number of games and the rugged approach adopted by L1 opposition defenders. All the more reason to have back up in the striking department methinks.
