I assume Cook left Wigan in the hope he'd get a job another job in the Championship or top 6 L1 side, if he did then unless he's now getting desperate for a job why would he want to join us, isn't it a step backwards from Pompey/Wigan? He left because they were in a financial mess. He did well to get them promoted and then keep them up. The point deduction sent them down. Maybe that’s the down side, he hasn’t spent that long in his recent jobs. He also left in July so while he may have been holding out for another championship club or top league one club, nothing appears to have come up yet. The advantage with paul cook is if he did well, a championship club would give us compo when they wanted him.

Tim Flowers did an amazing job at Solihull Moors with little money and almost got them into the EFL.
He has masses of contacts within football at all levels, something that many managers don't have in the lower leagues.

Good shout ... and if they decide against giving Rooney his first chance in management then maybe we could? Would certainly solve our experienced striker problem!

If we signed Rooney in his prime, there are still a lot of people on here who would moan about us not having like for like cover for him if he picked up an injury!

I can see them going for someone like John Terry. It’s only a matter of time before he manages someone and I can see it being one of the bigger clubs in the championship. Lampard did alright there.

Exeter manager may be a good fit for the project. Used to a system of bringing in youngsters and selling on and still achieving results

I dont think Wael can afford to go untested in this league anymore. Obviously no manager is guaranteed, but you'll have a better shot with someone like Paul Cook rather than like Tim Flowers.
