Past success is no indication of future performance.
McGhee should have exceeded DC based on historical perspective.
This club needs a leader NOW, a hard man, a decisive, quick thinking decision maker.

Having looked at his record in League 1 with Exeter their first season in league 1 they finished 18th, second season was thier joint ever highest league finnish in their history in 8th position and missed out on the play-offs by 2 points and then the follow season they got relegated. Like I said I never knew quite how bad the injury crisis hit at MK Dons before his sacking and I know thats not an excuse but to lose your 2 new striker signings with Healy proving there that he was a good signing and Mason’s record not bad what ever club he has been at would have been a struggle. I don’t really buy into the motion about managers records at previous clubs, If that was the case Buckle and Atkins would have got us promoted while Gerry Francis would have seen us relegated. Sometimes it just the simple fact that a manager and club join together and it just clicks into place, probably why any appointment is a always a risk and all you can do is carry out the interview process and hope that the person you feel is the best person does turn out to be sucessful. I've really come around to the idea that Tisdale would be the right man at the right time for the club and his previous experiences would hold him in good stead for the challenge here.

It’s a big no from me, half the challenge is a man that fits at the club. I don’t think Tisdale fits here and also I don’t rate him anyway

People should earn respect as a leader by being professional, respectful to their employees, and ultimately being good at their job. Being "hard" has nothing to do with it. Roy Keane is a hard man, but he couldn't cut it in management. Just one example of many where a hard man hasn't worked in management.

We are seemingly trying to develop young players and his success in that respect is impressive indeed. Plus he has 4 promotions with Team Bath, 2 promotions with Exeter and 1 with MK Dons on his C.V.

Agree, if we were in league two he would be a top candidate for me. But we are not and we need someone who has has success in league one. I think the board have realised their mistake with Garners havung no experience and will be looking for the opposite this time and will do there best to appoint someone with their maximised budget.

Just listened to the EFL podcast with Paul Tisdale, Years ago I would have loved him as our manager then last season at MK Dons made me think like alot of fans have said “his record in league one” wasn’t great but even though he isn’t my first choice after listening to the interview after a gashead just posted it on Twitter has made me change my mind from “no way” to “maybe we could be the ideal match” Interesting on how he got Ollie Watkins to start believing in himself and also does sound like he wanted to be loyal to the players that got him promoted at MK Dons when maybe they weren’t good enough for League One and people might say it excuses but does seem like he had an Injury crisis with his 2 new striker signings (Healy and Mason) getting injured at the start of the season and the back up striker then also getting injured caused them to struggle as he states that the most important thing for any teams is the guys at the top end of the pitch. Give it a listen guys, Like I said he is not first choice but if he was one of the people who the board were looking at I would feel more confident now than I did before listening to the podcast. Part 1
Part 2Last Autumn we played MKDons when they were in the middle of their injury crisis and won 1-0, I think Tom Davies scored from a corner. He was sacked soon after. They were well organised but poor in attack. The guy is a solid manager, his teams well organised but not over exciting. With the increasing emphasis on youth he could be a good fit to the job. UTG!

Michael Flynn the big mover. Now just 2/1. As much as I would love it, I can’t see us paying compo to another club who’s gaffer is on a 2 year+ deal when we are going to lose £5m this year. Then again I didn’t expect Wael to build the colony back in April so anything is possible I guess.

Derek Adams must be in under consideration, worked with Starnes at Plymouth, would be controllable, very experienced and doing a good job with no money at Morecambe

Alan Pardew's average term as coach is 1.89 years. That's perfect if our recent history is anything to go by.

Michael Flynn the big mover. Now just 2/1. Would be very happy with Flynn. Done a great job with limited resources and a small budget at Newport. Realistically I think he knows Newport will at best be a L1/L2 yo-yo side and interestingly he sees Rovers as a club that should be aiming for the Championship. He wouldn't have to move house as our new training ground is perfectly situated to make a commute from Newport less than 30 minutes.
Cook would probably still be my first choice but if that proves unrealistic then I think Flynn would be my top target.

I suspect in an unpopular betting market that would be enough to see a swing! Would love Flyn by the way. I think he would be popular with the fans in a DC kinda way as well.

If John Terry did my some odd and very unlikely chance join us then I would be finished with the club. You'd stop supporting Bristol Rovers because they appointed John Terry as manager? Yep...drinking, gambling, fights, cheating on partners, parking Bentley in disabled parking and racial abuse (albeit it the court held racial words not intended to be racist?) - sorry I could not support that type of person.

I can own up to four of those crimes and misdemeanours in my life. Can anyone surpass that? Don’t need to have driven a Bentley, any car will do
