We moan about our lack of striking options. Imagine taking Daly and Hanlon out as well. They had all their strikers injured at the same time and other key player's. Let ignore the other 19 year's of his managerial career and focus on the few months, when he had an injury hit squad! Most manager's and clubs would have struggled. 8 of the 11 player's who player just before he was sacked, were part of the squad that got relegated from League 1 just before. He probably would have turned it around, once he had a fit striker. Do you mean the 20 years of fourth division glory? Strange how no other big club managed to lure him away. He turned down offers from Southampton and Swansea, which showed he's loyal to a project. Exeter were a mid table national league side, when he took over. He took them to 8th in League 1, finishing a point outside the play offs. They then lost all of their player's, as they were out of contract as they are a fan owned club. He did that with no money, they couldn't build up debts like we did. Think people forget, before he arrived they had already spent 3 seasons in the national League. Before that he formed a new club and got them promoted 4 times and to the FA Cup first round.

What's the difference Cook or Tisdale ? They're both as bald as each other, so it doesn't matter ! Hair today gone tomorrow I say !

Not bad at all. Started up a club from scratch at Team Bath, winning four promotions in his time there and advancing them through four qualifying rounds to the first round proper of the FA Cup. Also launched the professional careers of several players. Took over a club at Exeter City in a diabolical financial position and became the first Exeter City manager in their history to lead the club to back-to-back promotions and also the highest ever league finish. Also took them to three other playoff finals. Developed several outstanding players at the club, making £7-8 million in transfer fees during that time. Took a club at MK Dons that were on a 3 year downward spiral from the Championship-League Two and managed to get them promoted at the first attempt. Signed a player in Rhys Healey for £200k who would later be sold on for £1.1m. Just to finish the MK story he managed to turn a winning start to the season into an all time club record collapse. Fair play to you though Pirate for nailing your colours to the mast after your endorsement of Ben Garner prior to him arriving at the club I've said I would have gone all out for Paul Cook, but having look at Tisdale's career as a whole, listened to his recent EFl podcast and then listening to the vision that Martyn Starnes set out in his interview, I think Tisdale could now be the right man at the right time. With our young squad and his record of developing players it could be a good fit.

That sums up where I am. Great manager for league two a couple of years ago, but we’re league one in the present. Ah well, it’s inevitable now. I’m just trying to content myself he’s not Garner and he can’t wreck a winning team and that’s a massive positive in and of itself. And yet you’re advocating Michael Duff who’s never even managed in league 1. Btw I wouldn’t have been unhappy had it been Duff or Taylor at Exeter, both strangers to league 1 because that’s where we are, BRFC, a League 1 team who do well with new managers. But honestly 365 the vehemence with which you’ve run down Tisdale, even before he’s even appointed is very strange. Have your opinion of course but if you have a go at another poster with a different POV, don’t be surprised if they come back and give as good as they’ve taken. Those who give it out have to be prepared to take it as well. UTG! Absolutely- when have I ever attempted to police other people’s opinions the way they attempt to police mine? I fully believe everyone should tolerate other people’s opinions, that’s what a forum is there for after all. Free speech. You should argue against it with reasons why you think that person is wrong, which is what I do. I don’t just say “oh Tisdale, he’s a load of sh**” I say “Tisdale is a bad appointment because X”. But you’re making it sound a lot more dramatic than it is by saying vehemence. It’s adamance more than vehemence because of his previous record in league one. Which is why I’d prefer to take a risk on Duff because he has no record at league one. So on the balance of probabilities who do you think is more likely to fail? The man who got his side relegated from league one and went 9 games or whatever it was without scoring a goal or the man who has got no team relegated from league one? And I’ve already said that Duff would be an outside choice rather than the first name on the list, I’d rather have had Clough, a much safer appointment with a championship promotion on his CV but our board seemed to lack the intent for a signing like that plus they are determined to back themselves into a corner by having some fairly specific stipulations that would rule a lot of managers out. It’s like they wrote a job description for Tisdale specifically (although they might have misjudged him if our friend from MK is correct).

Don't worry guys, if he takes the job at least he'll tell the board we're going to get relegated this season and we should just start preparing for league two now. We won't have to wait until we've actually played all the games to find out.

Your name is a bit misleading - Gas 365 - shouldn't t it be Gas 1 + maybe, but probably not 364 ? Was the 1 for when we beat Dagenham in 2016 ?

But after looking into him and listening to the podcasts, instead of just moaning on here,I changed my opinion. Cook might be a better manager, however, even if we got him, he would leave the first chance he gets. He's never been loyal and has walked out on his last 3 clubs. Tisdale would be in it for the long term and lives in Bath, so we would suit him even more than Exeter. A lot of people are saying they want Flynn or Duff, I would have took either. But between them they have managed in League 2 for 5 year's and have not won promotion. Tisdale got promoted from League 2 twice in the first season. Looking at the long term, I can't think of a better appointment for us.

We won't have to wait until we've actually played all the games to find out. Atleast he was honest. He said we should look for other investment to stay up, but they didn't want to. He still stayed and tried to stay up. A club with their size can't lose that many players in one goal. Paying the wages they did, they were never going to be replaced.

I wish I had your confidence in Starnes. I thought he looked and sounded like an old bloke roused from a year long coma that the nurses hadn’t got around to shaving yet. Sit up, have a shave and put your bloody club tie on. You’re top of the employee tree, so set an example

The question who do we want is a far cry from who wants to join. For all we know Cooks agent might have put messages out saying 'unless north of Birmingham don't bother' There could be a few options that were going to be a no so was pointless in us asking the question. These are things that even our reliable 🤔 ITKers may not be privy to Does the board not approaching Lionel Messi and asking if he wants to get his coaching badges with us whilst winding down his career with cameo appearances make us short sighted?

Just a pity no Exeter fans have shown up on here with their opinions of the man. Wnenever I have seen Exeter over the years, probably seen 10 of the twelve games we played against his sides, I always thought they played very good football. In total we won 5, lost 5 and drew 2 against Exeter in that time. I find it very sad when people are slagging the man off before he comes through the door and some of those the same people who slagged off DC for taking us to the Conference and very conveniently forgot to mention that their hero John Ward was responsible. We all know how that went and the very same people jumped on the DC is a hero bandwagon twelve months later and then after another twelve months they proclaimed him as a legend. It does not worry me what the man wears on a match day, lucky him to have a top designer/ business man as a friend. He gets slagged for that as well, in spite of the fact he has qualified that in his podcast by stating he wears a tracksuit for all the rest of the time on the training ground etc. All the best to him I say and hope he proves the doubters wrong if he indeed is the man. I’m a doubter but hope he proves me wrong *if* he gets the job. No slagging him off from me , he’s just not my preferred choice. Not seen a better way of putting your view across than this, you don’t agree with it but your not going to slate and insult a man cause let’s remember this is a human being like to rest of us before he’s even started. If I was a manager and I read this thread I’d be steering well clear. You don’t have to be at tisdale’s feet kissing his shoes but you shouldn’t be insulting or slating him before he has started either.

Another bloke happy in his comfort zone down the M5 then. No somebody who is loyal if he believes the cause is right. We’re not employing the next Co-op manager here, it’s a football manager we want. My point is I thought with the money Wael is spending on the club and the training ground we would be putting someone in place to ignite some interest in the club, raise its profile and be able to point to their success at a higher level and say “there that’s how you do it”

I’d be staring from scratch to seek out a manager who has achieved success at a higher level who is able to inspire players and fans alike. I think it should be a long process and I’d be quite happy with Widdington in place until we had properly exhausted all possibilities. We really don’t want to be doing this again in six months time

We really don’t want to be doing this again in six months time I absolutely adore that the club are getting criticism for being professional and prepared. If you have a top striker that you know might leave some point soon then you have a list of potential replacements - why would this be different if you have a manager who is struggling? Just because you have only known since Saturday evening it doesn't mean that this hasn't been at least being looked at for some time.

Can’t believe some of the negative comments regarding Tisdale. Yes there are questions over his suitability and where his ceiling is as a manager, but unless he is given a chance how will we know? I suggest if you have time listen to both of his EFL podcasts, they give a good insight into his methodology and thoughts on the game. Recruiting in any field is a can of worms and I’m sure our Director of football / Head of Recruitment TW is hoping we get this one right. If Tisdale is the new gaffa then he inherits a good squad of players that just need a leader that can influence results and match day scenarios something BG lacked IMO. He gets my full support like any new manager deserves. The game is changing in the lower divisions money is harder to come buy with FA cup games going straight to pens no replays etc. Sustained survival and cash flow needs to come from playing a decent brand of football with assets in the team to sell on. I applaud our model as it shows we have a vision finally. Whether it’s Tisdale or not, the big picture in the current climate is surviving and supporting the club however you can.
