A decent appointment imo, really looking forward to seeing what he can do with this group of players, if last night is any indication we have the potential to create chances and score goals. Sort out the defensive side and we're good to go. Over to you Mr Tisdale welcome and good luck

Surely Widdrington has to go down as our best ever manager though ? Never lost a game and a 100% win rate.

Sorry if it’s already been covered ( can’t see it anywhere) but to make an appointment that quick surely it was in the pipeline before garner got sacked. Also strange that Starnes said we would be taking our time then few days later we’ve got one in the door. ? There couldn’t have been anyone else even interviewed. ? Disagree about it being in the pipeline - don't get me wrong, it could have been, but don't see why it means it definitely was; he was currently unemployed so very doable in the timescales. But I agree, it does seem very quick - can't have interviewed many others, if any? Some applications may have even still been in the post! Is it fair to say it was perhaps a tad rushed? Maybe another week wouldn't have hurt? I guess they must really feel Tisdale is the perfect man. The job was not advertised, Starmes said they were making the approaches. It has been said that Tisdale was interviewed last time, if that was the case perhaps he was still in our boards minds.

Surely must've been top of Wael's list for this to be completed so quickly, did we even open it up for applications, are Football League clubs still subject to the 'Rooney Rule' that was brought in a few years ago?
Anyway, welcome and good luck Paul just win more than you lose and you'll win over the doubters! UTG

Welcome to the club Paul and good luck. I think this is the hardest appointment in a football club to get right. Even clubs with untold riches like Man U have struggled to replace Ferguson. I think Tis will know what's required of him and what will happen if success isn't achieved by the way the board dealt with BG.

Like others I welcome Tis and wish him all the best. I think there's definitely reason to be hopeful, and of course every appointment is a risk. My biggest concern - and this is probably very harsh (but is my gut feeling nonetheless); I just worry he thinks he's a bit better than he is. Don't get me wrong, I realise how British and harsh that sounds by the way. But the whole website thing is a bit cringe, and whilst he's very impressive when you hear him talk, he does sound perhaps a bit arrogant (i.e. you'd be forgiven for thinking you were listening to Pep or Klopp - a manager that's won the Champions League and several titles - not a manager with a promotion from non-league and League 2). Even the whole super, super dressy attire all screams a bit "ooh look at me - I want all the attention please!". Like I say, all very harsh no doubt, and I'm not saying I'm writing him off because of any of it but...... dare I say it there's almost a whiff of Paul Buckle-esque arrogance it feels?!?! Hopefully all massively incorrect judgements on my part, and I certainly won't be pre-judging him on any of it regardless. Fingers crossed he's a massive success. UTG Time to do the talking on the pitch then! I too got a whiff of buckle looking at the pics, but won’t hold that against him. Bit of swagger no bad thing imho as long as that’s not all he’s got. Feeling positive though as feel he will do better job with same ingredients Garner had at his disposal

And I'm glad my post was taken as intended. Certainly not writing him off by any means - Every chance he'll he a complete success. Fingers crossed!

Welcome le'Tis.
Certainly Tis would appear to fit the BRFC DNA brief; he has a wealth of experience of turning water to into wine, by bringing in revenue from selling players onto the bigger clubs for a profit.
I am sure we will all get behind the fella; and there is no better way to start the reign off on front foot, than by picking up 3 points at Swindle on Saturday.

Initial thought - great, what could go wrong?
Second thought - oh f*ck, this is Rovers we're talking about.

Good luck Paul, hope you will be a success, we need some stability now and hope you play attractive football.
Our clothing range might be top notch now, sartorial excellence is expected 😂
John Kayes will be selling Tis cravats by the weekend!

Welcome to Bristol Rovers !!! Those running the club have made their choice, it wouldn’t have been my first choice, but hey, I don’t run the club. I hope he is a success, as if he is we will all be happy - well most of us anyway. He needs time but unlike BG he has not come here with us being in a good place & therefore we need to be patient and give him time. A mid table finish will be great but I don’t think it will be a cake walk. Good Luck PT Come on Blues!

Really I suspect that this is Starmers doing, mates fron Devon. What concerns me is that it took him 11 years to get Exeter a promotion, not that it lasted long. He has very limited knowledge of League One, and no knowledge of the Championship.
What does this say to you? To me it says the club are happy at being in league One and intend to make money by developing players for more ambitious clubs. Forget the stadium, after all they first mentioned it in 1978. Totally cannot see that this is anybetter than reappointing DC, he has the same in terms of promotions.
Personally I wanted someone who has experience of taking a club in to the the Championship, not an average league 2 manager.
And the speed this was done at smacks of "set up"

The appointment makes a lot of sense and he ticks the boxes on most of the competencies required. My main concern is how well he will be able to manage our fickle and too often critical fan base and I'm a little worried this might be one skill lacking. He can manage players but not sure how he'll cope with our more difficult fans. He doesn’t have to manage the fan base his job is to manage the squad. It’s a results business and If he gets results and takes us in to the top six the fans will love hi..... oh hang on.
