It is nonsence to say that two weeks without any training is not going to affect performance. It is my opinion that the EFL should have cancelled yesterdays game for that very reason. We in fact played that game with at least three players not playing due to the effects of COVID and against a team who have played and also trained and it showed in the fitness. Even so it was a game we could still have won and were still in thhe contest until JVS gave them the second goal and we all know thw worst time to concede is just before half time. Next game will be a fairer game to assess the team and I still believe we have a reasonable squad of players but do need another striker who can lead the attack. Unfortunately the EFL will not postpone games, but leave it for the clubs to make that decision. Quite rightly the onus is on the clubs to fulfill their fixtures, which should ensure that everything possible is done to ensure games go ahead. We have been very unfortunate in that the end of our isolation period came just before our game was due to be played - but then with our fixture list, that was always going to be the case (prior to Portsmouth calling off their game). perhaps the other affected clubs were looking ahead to their return date in relation to available training time, prior to postponing their games. That should not have been allowed, but would presumably be under investigation by the EFL. I do wonder though, if Sunderland are now exploiting the situation. They seem to be playing mind games with the EFL. Following on from their initial response, despite knowing the same rules applied to every club, they seemed to want the EFL to guarantee that they would not be penalised by postponing their games, when in fact the EFL have always stated that any postponements would be investigated, and no club had been penalised when their Covid related reasons were genuine. With yet another game being called off by Sunderland, I think they are testing the waters, and seeing what they can get away with. I cannot help but feel that an already difficult position for both the clubs in trying to fulfill fixtures even when not quite ready, and in the EFL in trying to ensure that clubs fulfill their fixtures, is being made more difficult by Sunderland. If Sunderland were any good at mind games etc I doubt they'd still be stuck in L1! They sound a bit of a basket case TBH.

Didn't put say this week most of the players live in flats.so didn't even get to walk in the garden Yes, and those that live alone don’t get to see family, which is tough this time of year. I think those that to expect us to carry on where we were after the Plymouth game as though nothing had happened, are in cloud cuckoo land. If PT can get a couple in to help balance the squad & add some experience, I think we will comfortably end mid table.

If Sunderland were any good at mind games etc I doubt they'd still be stuck in L1! They sound a bit of a basket case TBH. Sunderland would have been isolating since the 16th December. Even if the whole squad had tested positive, they need only isolate 10 days from the test date or the day symptoms started. They should have returned to training today. Of course, players may have developed symptoms since the 16th, or they may have been tested in the last few days, and had positive results, thus triggering a new 10 day period, taking them beyond today. The question is, how many unavailable players does it take to call a game off? Seeing as Sunderland have said they will play next Saturday's game, I think they thought that returning to training today would not be enough preparation for their Tuesday night game. This is why I am saying that Sunderland are putting the EFL in a difficult position. If the EFL take no action then it would mean other teams will consider carefully when they decide to return after a period of isolation, especially with injured players unavailable as well. I know that injuries should not be a consideration, but if a club can use a Covid case to it's advantage, then it will. Would we have returned for the Boxing day game if we thought we could leave it a couple more days too? It will be interesting to see when Sunderland return to training, as yet not announced. I bet they do not leave it until Thursday though! UTG!

This pretty much mirrors what I said straight before kick off and after the game but in other words. Anybody looking at yesterday’s situation and performance and then basing how the rest of our season will go on that is crazy or looking for reasons to be downbeat. It has been a very difficult situation for everybody at the club and the performance showed everything I expected to see, a disjointed lethargic showing. It won’t take the players long to get their sharpness back but we have to be patient and realistic.

Personally I think Garner signed a lot of players who are not good enough, and never will be. Another season wasted on some potty idea that a coach can be a mananger overnight. Our problem is there are no leaders out on the pitch, no one to keep discipline on the pitch. Our midfield is poor defensively, and there is little in going forward. I would say we need and experienced defensive midfielder and an experienced forward that can hold the ball up. Without any disrespect, Ehmer is the club captain. Watching him since the start of the season playing in every game so far, I have the following thoughts: - on the pitch, he doesn’t stand out as a captain - his kicking and passing skills are poor - his tackling can be atrocious, almost unbelievable especially when a player is holding him at bay - he adds or gives us nothing up front at set pieces Just an example of the poor signings we have made and will have to suffer? Baldwin makes too many mistakes; he thinks he is better than he actually is. Apart from Kilgour, none of our defenders pose a real threat up front at set pieces as we normally did with Lockyer, Craig, etc. I do not see our defenders scoring more than 3 goals in the remaining games this season? Not helped by the poor set pieces that we normally produce. I think there will be a big clearout of players at end of season even by being loaned?

There are positives to every event. At least now the moaners. haven't had their Christmas ruined by the Gas playing well and god forbid, winning. They can quite happily bring out all their 'We told you so's' and 'PT was never the right man for the job' and 'Wael out' etc. So as it is Christmas let's give them their moment and the rest of us (99% of true fans) will be upset, realise we didn't play that well (especially in the first half), realise that players have not had a chance to train/run/exercise for 10 days (those who go to a gym know how painful it can be if you miss a couple of days and then try to carry on where you left off), that it is only one game, realise we will not be promoted this year but have a team for the future and realise that this i How many years have we said this?s how football is. Happy Christmas and a happy new year to you all (even the 1%) How many years ahave we said this?

Odd you didn't post this after we'd just won 3 consecutive games? If we manage to beat Blackpool and Sheff Utd no doubt they'll be all world beaters again. As far as an end of season clear out that will depend on whether Wael is prepared to fund yet another clear out, won't that be our third consecutive one?, or just tells PT to work with the players he's inherited.

Dont see a massive clear out, a few out of contract players will move on, Tis will have assessed what he has by then, and target a few additions we look okay when everyone is fit.

Locks got 6 goals in 255 appearances. With one of those being the winning goal against Northampton, first game of the season when John Ward inexplicably played him as a right winger!
