How are they being rewarded twice? Stuart, I know you are a Reamainer, but do you really need to ask that? Just wondering if we were understanding the same point. Surely someone needs to be paid their true value? I worked in an area with mandatory overtime so feel the British case brought to arbitration was justified.

It's a minimum 4 weeks and ours includes Bank Holidays. Countries are free to choose to provide more. Sovereignty. Indeed. I thought we were not allowed to create our own rules? We are now!

It doesn't really relate to salaried employees. If I do overtime I am paid end off. If you don't do fixed hours, that holiday pay is worked out at an average of the past 52 weeks which includes overtime www.acas.org.uk/checking-holiday-entitlement/calculating-holiday-payInteresting read. So it appears that overtime should be included in your holiday pay. You might want to have a word with your employer. Also very interesting that statutory leave in the UK is 5.7 weeks. However, ACAS states that it only applies over 4 weeks as the EU statutory holiday is only 4 weeks. I haven’t read any of your Remainers extolling the virtue of the EU over that one. How strange! Um .... No Where a worker is paid a regular monthly salary, with fixed hours and fixed pay, there is no need to make a separate holiday pay calculation. The worker will be paid their normal monthly amount for months where holiday has been taken. For those workers paid monthly, but where their pay varies (for example, depending on the amount of work done) their employer will need to use the holiday pay reference period

I work overtime occasionally and a couple of years ago I started to receive a small sum once a year for overtime holiday pay. Whilst I was happy enough to receive it I didn’t really understand why I had been, in effect, paid twice for the same bits of work. The overtime I work is voluntary, it’s usually to help my employer out and Im happy to do it because It’s a good company to work for and I receive premium payment for O/T. The payment is usually late because it must be a total ballache for our payroll dept., working out what each individual is entitled to receive. I just don’t think it’s a justified payment, that’s just my take on it.

However if you work overtime the the company needs to adjust HP accordingly. That’s the position at the moment. Isnt that what we’ve been saying all along? So, if your employer hasn’t taken into account overtime you say you’ve been paid for when calculating your holiday pay, your employer hasn’t complied with EU legislation.

Whilst the Scottish government are deliberately obstructing their own fish exporters to try and curry favour with the Bastard EU. I wonder what they’ve spent all those millions they received from the British govt. to help them adapt to the new rules?

So the Financial Times reports today that besides DB Schenker both Palletways and DPD no longer accept cargo to and from Scotland, Wales or England. This is significant. These are huge operators.
