I like the 1883 idea a lot I just think it was poorly executed this time.
Totally agree with PotatoDrive too. I'd iron the shirt and re-do the photos.

I think that this a fairly good starting point for providing something different to what's usually on sale.
My comments:-
1) Not keen on the stripes 2) Think that you need to ditch the pocket, it detracts from the simplicity and draws your eye away from the logo.
As a female, it's not the type of thing I'd wear out and about, but would probably buy one to wear when I'm playing golf, if it didn't have the pocket.
Amazed that somebody within the club didn't think to get the iron out before doing the promo shots. Surely that's a really basic rule of marketing - present your product in prime condition?

Perhaps the biggest lesson learnt here (and not one for the panel but one for the club shop/club) is to improve our photography. If that shirt on the rack really is navy blue then what the hell has the photo been taken with? A potato? There is no way that looks navy blue. Secondly, why the hell would you stick a creased up polo shirt on someone as your marketing shot? Give it an iron FFS. So amateurish it's unreal. Again, this isn't a dig at the panel as, from an earlier post, it sounds like this is the work of the club/club shop. But deary me; quite possibly one of the worst "official" marketing photographs I've ever seen. The photo was taken with my iphone6. I sent it to the panel when I was in the shop merely to show them it was in stock. It was never intended to be used as a promotional picture and it most certainly isn't our official photo! We are confident of getting a player to do a photo shoot wearing a shirt in the very near future and this will be used for official marketing purposes. To be fair to Fetch, I think he used this photo in the absence of anything else. The shirts come folded in a prepackaged plastic wrap. I assume Kay, in the shop, has taken them straight out of the wrapper and put them on the shelves, that's why they appear creased.

The picture definitely doesn't appear navy blue though - odd! However, the creased top for a promotional marketing photo is inexcusable in my opinion. In fairness to Kay, she may not have experience of commercial marketing so I won't blame her. But as a club, it's laughably poor. You wouldn't log on to any other website in the world I doubt - that is an online store advertising clothing - and have someone modeling it straight out of the wrapper. Such simple things and, as a club, we do ourselves no favours whatsoever sometimes. A lot of effort has clearly gone in to designing the product and bringing it to market and it's been let down at the final hurdle. All good and well if people actually go in to the Club Shop in person, but in the modern era, a lot of people do their shopping online; I've done all my Christmas Shopping online this year. Therefore, advertising the product in such.... well... appalling fashion will not help it sale and that will unfairly reflect on the good work that the Retail Panel are doing. You definitely need to get the photo re-done properly and either speak to the club about not making such amateurish mistakes going forwards or, alternatively, politely point out to Kay/whomever that next time the merchandise will need an iron first! Well, provided it's clothing of course!

I like it - but close but no cigar for me. Thoughts:
No pocket - looks naff.
Banding detail I could take or leave
I know you have said black and gold and I would certainly prefer that as a colour scheme and would look smarter than this one (although understand your predicament to get something out).
I actually think it could be MORE subtle. If it is aimed at a subtle market that people would wear out and about then I would say its still too big as a logo. I have a number of polo shirts which are from various brands I couldn't care less about. The ones I like best have very small (20mm or less) branding on top left chest and sometimes even in the same colour as the top itself - looks classy.
Better marketing and a lower price would probably get me asking for one (if it was a smaller logo in black and gold).
Not bad though... and applause for giving it a bash and getting something to market.
SG - 25YO.

The only known person to have entered the Grotto and survived is Gregsgas.
He never speaks of it......

Because the Grotto is a Teleport device put in place by a unknown BS7 person, known as the Jursey one, hoping to convert some non believers of the Cotterill mantra. they have returned fully converted and bain dead like all of BS7 supporters. They now receive weekly treatment using the Higgs procedure and are slowly recovering from what could only be a nightmare

Agree with others, in that it's close but quite there yet.
I like the subtle, all top designers have subtle, and you shouldn't move from that, I also agree that not having the 2 swords was a good thing, although it's Rovers, this is also meant to be something that in the future, can be purchased outside the club shop, and be worn by non-Rovers supports, getting things like skull and crossbones is a no, no!!
Although the pocket isn't suited on this one, I would suggest looking at Lyle and Scott or Superdry, who have pockets (they are mainly just very small ones), someone said that pockets are only on cheap items of clothing, and that couldn't be further from the mark!
Going forward (and not sure if Ralph Lauren have a copyright or anything) but I would look at having just the sword on the front, and the 1883 (or just 83) on the arm, this would just be an arm of the design, and not a new look.
Hoops and similar designs are in at the moment (look at Jack Wills), they have quite a few of these designs (along with boxers)
Can I also suggest staying away from gastly massive image t-shirts? Like the ones you find in Primark for £1? Or if you do, make them dirt cheap lol.

Having been to the club shop in Kingswood today the polo shirt's colour looks a lot better than the picture.

IMO, by and large it's cheap polos that have pockets. Every "smart" polo shirt I own is pocketless. We'll have to agree to disagree.
