To be fair I find some of it a bit harsh with Barrett and Ayunga as they have not had many minutes at all this season. At the start of all this we all were willing to give the team 10 games or so to gel (or something like that). Barrett has played 109 league mins and Jonah 195 mins.
I’d like to see more game time before judging them so critically
Thoughts?

Boner you know my glass is half full but the defending at crewe was awful and they are strong going forward, we are their bogey side but cant see a positive result sorry mate. Thats what happens when the players cannot do the job that they are paid to do. Leahy constantly passing to opposition players. Kilgour and Baldwin keep getting caught on the wrong side of players, and I really have no clue what Ehmer has brought to the defence. Dont even get me started on Baldwins distribution, its as bad as Lockyers was. Following on from that positive post, do you think it is worth me betting on us winning tomorrow?

I can only go on what I see and I see very little from either of them and think the signings will end up as failures.

So its match day and actual grown ups think it matters who starts a thread about it, and as i am up drinking i decided to grab my chance.
I predict 2-1 away win.
Blah blah blah
Thoughts?
P.s, this is the only one that counts as i waited until after Midnight and apparently that matters

It'll be a miracle if we get anything out of this one.

Cannot see past a comfortable Oxford win. Our defense always has a mistake or two in it. Would love to be proved wrong with a backs to the wall smash and grab win but can't see it personally.

Neat passing, good ball control but generally a bit slow and too much sideways and backwards. He hasn't actually improved much since his first game. He reminds me a bit of Liverpool's Shaqiri in build, diagonal running and the way he looks to thread the ball through packed defences. A good player to bring on if we need to keep possession late on. I think Ayunga is showing signs of improvement, albeit slow. He perked up second half on Tuesday and got past his marker a few times in dangerous positions. We need to persevere with him if he's to get up to speed.

For me Tis needs to scrap the ultra defensive set up and be braver
Hopefully Oz is back
Day
Williams Kilgour Ehmer Leahy
Grant Hargreaves
McCormick Oz Westbrook
Hanlan
You could go Ogogo instead of either of the 2 in front of the back 4
Either way we need to be positive and think we can win. Once we drop below that dreaded dotted line things will look a lot bleaker, especially as news of a striker doesn’t look great? All names linked now look to have gone elsewhere. Come on Tommy we need another JCH!

I don't mind Tis playing 5-3-1-1 again
I just hope he's doesn't play Ogogo and Grant at the same time.
If Ozzy is fit then play him, Westbrooke and McCormick and leave Grant out.

They are in good form and the snake will probably benefit from no crowd and score.
We've shipped goals in the last couple of games and are desperate for Oztumer and/or Nicholson back.
Lots of solid reasons that we'll return empty handed today. But it's Oxford so 4-2 gas win.

I have taken heed of GGMI's special request and have taken it upon myself to relieve him of his duties for this game (albeit 4.5 hours early) I have never started a thread before, and I am not waiting up till midnight to start this one, so please take it easy on me. I have started this thread on the basis that I have never fancied our chances at the Kassam Stadium but have been there on a number of occasions and have only ever seen us win. Fingers crossed that my luck holds out and we get to see another famous victory. PS Another reason for starting this thread is that I have just taken receipt of a BJ "Special Hamper" and have already drunk my way through half of it!!!!!!! Good luck mate, despite my dismal performance at Crewe, I was thinking of doing another. Like you, I've not seen us lose at Poxford for around 5 years, but we're not going to be there this year and I took that as a bad omen. Suspect a loss, unless we get Ozzy back today to give us the creativity we need. Hope PT doesn't drop Alfie, but suspect that he will play Ehmer and Baldwin in the centre? Can't see anything other than a loss here if Ozzy not playing and the snake scoring!😢

Completely agree..... neither have looked fantastic so far but before his injury Ayunga did show snippets of potential and looked sharp - being positive and strong and driving at the defence. Since his injury he’s looked off the pace when he’s coming on but he’s not had any real game time since to get up to speed or gain sharpness and understanding. Barrett has done ok when he’s been on - rarely gives the ball away, some decent passes and tracks. Yes nothing has resulted in goals or has been spectacular but he’s been steady. Again he’s only had handfuls of minutes here and there - the only time he’s started was in the wrong position as CF which he is not. Yes he’s bigger build than the rest but he doesn’t look unfit and Jan Molby was big and he did alright for himself establishing himself as a key player for Liverpool back in the day. way way way to early to be passing judgement on them in my opinion

GGMI you’re entitled to your opinion but when you say you’ve seen enough, I’m interested to understand when as neither has barely played as they’ve been injured or not involved and when the have it’s been 5 or 10 mins in a game late on when it is known that it is notoriously hard to come on and get involved and up to speed straight away. The games when they’ve had longer, they were just back from injury or played in their wrong position as an experiment (Barrett) Like I said, you’re entitled to your view - personally I think it’s a bit harsh and rash at this point in time and they should be given longer before we write them off as failures

Onto the game - tough match today and I think we’ll struggle to contain a motivated and in form Oxford side. Taylor is hitting form too and despite what we think of him as a person - he is a fantastic striker. We do play better generally against stronger teams though. Heart hopes for a 1-1 draw or sneaky 2-1 win but head I saying it’ll be a defeat. (2-1 Oxford)

The only way to relieve our disjointed defence, is to attack! So I’m hoping our two most creative players can play. I’m gonna go for a 2-2 UTG
