Just catching up now and I think we need to ground ourselves a little with the ‘best game since’ stuff. Seems to me we did very well against Portsmouth less than 2 weeks ago, AFC Wimbledon under that hopeless Tisdale, and Lincoln under even Ben Garner! We had a stormer against Ipswich last season before our manager upped sticks and then the squad collapsed. Yesterday was a strong performance but we almost chucked it all away after we switched off completely just before added time. We’re still struggling to score goals. We also have form for pulling a strong win out of the bag and then going back to our clumsy old ways with this squad. The more I learn about Joey Barton the more I like him, and he has done enough so far to give me faith we will be in league one next season (forget about turning that key on the playoff bus this season) but we were fawning over Paul Tisdale and fawning over Ben Garner. One swallow does not make a summer and there is a hard battle ahead of us in this new dawn of a spring before that summer comes. So let’s not get too carried away yet until we get a few more wins by our name in the form table. To add: someone said best game since Harrison left. I seem to remember some good backs to the wall stuff under GC on a fairly consistent basis. Yeah, the bus is still in the garage, the doors are locked, and there are no windows. If we start her up, only one thing can happen.

It's still the best home performance for a while apart from Portsmouth, which was a bit of a fluke game post Tisdale's departure. Although until this week's games are played we won't know if it was Rovers playing well or Shrewsbury just having an off day.
Regardless you can sense Barton has a plan and the players are battling for him, hopefully, they are good enough to stay up.

That the point, this wasn't a GC backs to the wall performance, we actually took the game to Shrewsbury and beat them fair and square. Something GC's team could never really do, apart from the second half v Southend.

Watching the Quest highlights this morning I wonder whether JVS should ever have had to make his save?
When Day gets injured it looks like he gets to the ball first and palms it out for a corner and the attacker then collides with his head. Should it not have been a free kick? If the striker didn’t make any contact with the ball (in today’s game) then surely it’s a foul. Not saying for one minute it was deliberate as he had to go for it but still a foul and one that endangered an opponent.
Put another way if a keeper and striker come together in the box and it’s the striker who gets the touch and the keeper collides with him without touching the ball it’s deemed an obvious penalty.

Many posters have over the last months been saying we lacked leadership. The return of one of senior and most respected players in Rodman has had an positive influence on the team. He has had a couple of of strong performances as has Leahy who seems well suited to the Captains role. Leahy may not be our best defender but he does have an eye for goal. The win has cheered me up tremendously. Not only a win but the style in which we won gives me hope we will survive

Loved that today .... Passion/ Grit / Camaraderie ... The way they were high fiving, encouraging each other and hugging was just brilliant... Leahy was constantly encouraging everyone... the Captain we have needed for so long... Give it to him for the rest of the season JB Great game until injury time but we got through ... I had. 2-1 ... Gas win Btts ... Leahy first goal Happy days ... Let’s go again Tuesday ... Can’t wait ! The bookies will be banning you at this rate!

Good footballer as well which certainly helps! Leahy has really surprised me as captain. He's been excellent, and absolutely shows the sort of leadership we've been lacking. I'd be tempted to continue with him as captain even when Ehmer is back fit to be honest.

He was very unlucky to have the vertigo problem which has hampered his season but he seems the type to have looked after himself over the years and still seems to have plenty of miles left in the tank. I think he’ll play a big part in the remainder of the season which i think will earn him a years extension.

At best it’s telling me we can stay up, but not yet a “we will”. Best we can expect is a good and sustained shift in mentality which I think can and should keep us safe. Can’t see us breaking free from the 7 team mini league though by closing the 7 point gap

Couldn’t watch yesterday’s game but the goals looked good. I liked Joe B as a player and at Fleetwood and thought his after match interview was excellent, even though I’m sure they’re easier after a win.
We haven’t had two good performances in a row very often since GC left so Tuesday is a big test for Joe and the team. I’m sure he’s up for it.

Was this the first time we've won at home wearing away shirts? Beat Lincoln 2-0 in Feb 2015 in our away strip

I seem to remember some good backs to the wall stuff under GC on a fairly consistent basis. It wasnt so much switch off as the team changed how they played after the substitutions. Where as hanlan chased down and tried to tackle ,Ayunga closed down but didnt try to tackle just block avenues. Upson ,baldwin and koiki dropped deep so the shrews defence could bring the ball into the rovers half without much bother. Allowing them to launch dangerous balls into the box. Had koiki baldwin and upson pushed up and closed down their defenders before the halfway line the dangers in the game late on probably wouldnt have happened. The players that came off had no energy left so it was right to make the change but they sat too deep. Shame because they deserved a clean sheet after not allowing shrews 1 shot in 90mins of football.

We might actually stay up you know Yesterday has renewed my hope. My worry is still the mistakes that me make at the back and our lack of potency up front. Hanlan took his goal well but he missed good chances as well. I can’t see him getting more than 5 before now and the end of the season. He will have to go on the goal scoring form of his life. Ayunga was great against pompey but then he showed his lack of experience against Wigan with a shot that he should have crossed and a silly foul that lead to the Wigan winner. I’m not sure he can be trusted in our position. I can’t see us winning games by more than the odd-goal so it’s imperative we defend as a team like we did yesterday.

Hanlan just needs to shoot more often. Stands to reason if you only take one shot in a game there is less chance of scoring. Any striker will fancy scoring at least 1 goal if they get six shots in a game.

I am not a jb fan but am willing to be converted, really liked his post match interview, good 3 points , let’s see if we can do it again Against Burton and then see what happens at Hull. I am happy to see what he does for us until the end of the season and hopefully I will be converted, could not assess him with his first game but we looked a lot better yesterday u t g
