Off to Millwall in the summer according to newspaper reports. It’s a shame, as evidently he’s a bright young player with a big future ahead of him and I know a lot of Gasheads were hoping that he might stay longer than his loan. I guess that’s the risk with loan signings, if they turn out to be decent, the chance of keeping them is always slim. Just hope that for the rest of his time at Rovers, he is a able to play a big part in our battle for L1 survival. footballleagueworld.co.uk/millwall-set-to-secure-transfer-agreement-with-chelsea/

He’s a very good player with an excellent attitude. He’ll have a decent career in the championship or higher.

This is the very reason why loans should be used at an absolute minimum as it minimises the amount of playing time your contracted players get and to the advantage of somebody else. This will always be the case until a restriction is put on to the number of players a club can sign and that is particularly the case of Premiership clubs who hoard these players with no intention that they will ever make their first team. I believe I am right in saying that Chelsae had over 20 players on loan last season. This is ridiculous.

That is disappointing when he has been one of the few who have impressed this season. Pity we aren't signing him as he would be the first name on my team sheet

I believe I am right in saying that Chelsae had over 20 players on loan last season. This is ridiculous. I'm not dead against loans, as if we get any more in the future that do as well for us as Luke has, then it's worth having them for a season, especially if we have the option to buy at the end of the loan. I do completely agree about something needing to be done against the sort of hoarding that Chelsea are guilty of. Sadly the whole system is geared towards the top clubs. The EPPP being one such policy that screws lower league clubs. A lot of clubs disbanded their academies because without the prospect of making sales on youngsters, academies are just money pits. It's a sad state of affairs. The FA would argue that it's for the benefit of the national team. Even if that were true (which I dispute it is) frankly I couldn't give a rats arse about England having a 5% greater chance of winning tournaments, when its the lower leagues constantly being the ones that are made to suffer to make it happen.

I disagree, he’s been our most consistent, and arguably best player this season, no way we can leave him out the side.

McCormick is probably our Player of the Season so far, I sense we'd be the losers if we hadn't signed him on loan. What's irritating is we've made McC into a potential Championship player, after he hardly got any game time last season at Shrewsbury last season but get zerfinancial reward for doing so. If Tisdale had signed a striker on loan who could score goals then we probably wouldn't now be in the bottom 4 and fearing relegation come May. McC seems a decent pro but if he has now got a move last lined up for next season I wonder if he'll still be so committed to the cause at Rovers.

I was not saying leave him out of the side - I was purely saying that the problem with loans is if they play well then you probably can't sign them and if they play crap you probably wont want to. I can understand making loans with a pre arranged deal that you can sign them.

I’m not against loans. Roberts, Cureton both came from loans.
I’m against big club youth loans. Why should we be a training team for a big club

Why should we be a training team for a big club Because we get the advantage of having players like Day, Blackman and McCormick for a full/half a season for little outlay? Our use of the loan system has been poor this season and we could well pay the price. Not sure there's even 💯% proof McC is of to Millwall, it wasn't that long ago Kelly was apparently signing for WHU!

He was for City. It's difficult to recall many loan players we have turned into permanent signings, the whole idea of doing that seems a bit of a fallacy.

Wasn't expecting him to be with us next season. If he can help keep us up with more good performances, then probably say he did his part and loan to us would be valuable experience for him.

Agree - if he wins Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and helps keep us up he will undoubtably have been a successful loan signing. I’m not totally going to rule out his permanent signing although it is looking unlikely. I would hope he really clicks with JB and playing in the same position might see it as good for his development. He will undoubtably play in the championship one day but if we stay in League One perhaps he will want to get another full season of playing week in week out rather than risk going to a Millwall and being a bit part player like he was at Shrewsbury. 🤞

If this is true and we were in mid table obscurity he’d be sent back to Chelsea.
As it is he’s vital in our survival bid.
