Well that was better wasn't it! I have a feeling we can get on a decent roll now at least in the home games. (3 wins from 4 at home).
Lots of positives; - Baldwin is better than Harries (at least in a relegation battle) - Rodman is fit again and has finally found his form of old - Westbrooke is being played in a position that suites him far better - After a few poor weeks Nicholson played like his old self. Hopefully there is more than that to come - If we are only going to play one up top then Ayunga is the man for that
Of course it was a shame to concede a sloppy goal, again from another set piece so we still need to work on that in training. I would have been nice to finally keep a clean sheet but hopefully they will start coming soon!

You lucky bugger, here I am sitting with a coffee like a mug, reading the last few pages on the match day thread reliving the great performance last night that I had to sadly watch hunched over my laptop and now I need to leave for work. Have a good weekend fella 🍻😜

Great result and professional performance. Jonah was superb and I thought Rodman and Westbrooke had really strong games. Nicholson was also back on song and McCormick showed the legs we missed in midfield the previous game...
1st half was a bit messy but 2nd half I thought we were really dominant up until their goal.... only disappointment for me is that I had gas to win 3-1 but I still won on Leahy scoring and gas win btts!

Didn't watch last night, but big congrats to the boys in blue & white. Especially pleased for JB, hope you get us plenty more results like that. The Gas are staying UP.

Absolutely great night with a performance and result that I doubted was possible. Well played guys. The challenge now is to take that performance onto the next game and the ones after that.

Take nothing away from last night , awesome performance and a serious statement by quite a few players
Barton will keep their feet firmly on the ground one imagines
I can’t be alone in wishing the rollercoaster would stop for a couple weeks and we just comfortably win the next 4 games 2-0
Nice to watch middle of the road composed workmanlike and professional football
Next target has to be a clean sheet as GD could have a say in this relegation battle yet

That was more like it, great display of attacking football and some cracking goals. Accrington (who are they) simply could not cope with us and we could easily have scored another four. If that's a glimpse of what Joey Barton's can do for us then I want to see more. Of course we need to follow up with the same Saturday, but I am a lot more optimistic than I have been all season COYB.

Great result last night , Joey seems to be making an impact on the players and if you can carry yesterdays form into Saturdays match you could really start pulling away from the bottom .
Best of luck on Saturday

Oztumer played for the development squad again today, can only assume it’s to gain fitness?? Would like to see what he can do under Barton

Would like to see what he can do under Barton Yeah I imagine it is to get minutes into those that aren't starting. Not just Oz; Little, Hare, Tutonda, Daly all played. Something quite satisfying about seeing that sort of strength having to play development games because they can't get into the starting 11.

Didn't want to post on the Accrington matchday thread in case I put the 'Jester curse of Accrington' on the team! Probably safe now?? Great performance last night, with Ayunga deservedly MOM, although I think Rodman ran him close. Westbrooke also had one of his best matches and I think JB has found the best position for him higher up the pitch. The 'high press was extremely effective against Accrington and you can see that teams at this level struggle against it. Upson had a good game, replacing Grant, as did McCormick returning from his ban, although there were still signs of the 'impetuousness of youth' there. And, as the commentators said, the amount of defending back that Sam Nicholson did seemed to be something that JB has added to his game. The defence looked more solid with Baldwin back in. I think he might become another TC, because him and Kilgour seem to have a 'better understanding' than Ehmer/Kilgour or Harries/Kilgour, although with all of them there appears to be a mistake waiting to happen. My only problem is the number of goals that go in at the near post. Maybe this is why Day hasn't progressed as people expected. He looked unbeatable for Newport against all sorts of strikes and there is no doubt he is a good shot stopper and appears to command his area, but I seem to remember in the Quest round-ups in his early Newport days, seeing a few go past him at the near post. I hope I'm wrong, because he's the best we've got until Jaakola gets fit(?). I'm now looking forward to Saturday and I haven't been able to say that much this season! UTG

This is what happens when we replace that useless clown hanlan with a proper centre forward who can play intelligently and hold the ball up rather than a headless chicken who runs up blind elleys

You are entitled to your opinion so that’s fine but I find it an inaccurate account from my point of view.

This may have been discussed but every time i see the Accy replays I think this. 1 Did Westbrooke mean to pick out Luke's run or was it aimed at the closer runner? If so, WHAT A PASS! 2 Did McCormick actually shoot for goal 4 (as per commentary)? Or was it a pass knowing Westbrooke was running in?
