I find it odd that some posters who I’ve respected in the past with some of their posting have come onto this thread and supported this protest (an illegal protest) and not mentioned one word in condemnation for the violence or thuggery displayed. Sad state of affairs really. My point exactly... If this was a bunch of "middle aged" white skinhead males doing this it would be thuggery, and Nazi sh** going on. When it's middle class, white liberals then it's ok and and just a protest.

Exactly and the only people defending this ‘right to protest’ are the usual anti English, pro European fruit cakes who will defend anything the normal English person would condemn] What are you on about? 😂 Surely you of all people do not need an explanation? If you do I’ll leave it there.

Hello. The point of the protest is to highlight the draconian and wholly unnecessary legislation within the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill currently being considered by Parliament. A rather stupid upping of the anti on calling out symbols of past imperialism, slavery and racism which led to the defacing and tearing down of the same, by applying totally disproportionate tariff leads to this. Personally I object to the violence because it dilutes the argument, but I can.understand it. Just as I understood but disagreed with the tearing down of the Colston Statue.
In any meaningful democracy the right to protest and seek change is fundamental.

But you’re making up an argument, getting annoyed by it and then using that made up argument to further your agenda.

It means your pulling up some of my past statements about the middle aged white males on another thread ( eg:Jabbing) even tho it has nothing to do with this subject here - that's how the (Being able to punch part comes in) even tho its not connected with this event. Fair enough, thanks for explaining. How’re you doing btw, back to full fitness? No long covid symptoms I hope? If I'm honest C19 knocked me for six and made me a mess.Ive been more ill with the flu before, but how it affected me mentally at the time, then it's without doubt the worst illness that I've ever had and never have I ever had the breathing problems I had at the time, which put me in southmead for 3 days.. I couldn't walk more than 50 yards to my local shop without begging for my next breath on the days after the virus had technicality left my system. Ive got nerve damage in my hand that makes 4 out of my 5 fingers numb 24hrs of the day that was caused as the result of my lack of oxygen during the last week before my hospital stay.My doctor said it I had only 40% used of my lungs at the time.Ive also put 2 stone on due to steroids and other meds I was given during then by my doctor's. My lungs are fine and I'm exercising again now but I do have other long Covid effects still.

Have you watched the footage of this riot - two coppers in hospital - one of them dragged into the crowd - stamped on fracturing ribs and perforating a lung - quite possibly children wondering where their father is and you “can understand it” - vandalism, arson, thuggery, attempts to set a police van on fire with the police still in it - and you “can understand it” . “The right to protest and seek change” - illegally and you support it. Take a look in the mirror - and remember there’s a regular poster on here who hasn’t posted today - I really hope as a fellow gas head his wife as a serving police officer was not caught up in this shitfest - and you of all people can understand it?

Yes I can understand it. Sadly the police have been placed in the front line by a Government so incompetent in the direction and wording of their policies, the poor police are left, on tbe street, having to interpret what is being passed onto the Statute book. Add then an inflammatory and totally unnecessary proposal which threatens our democratic right to protest by asking the police to interpret "nuisance", under which we can be arrested and charged. That needs to be resisted. It was interesting to hear an ex chief constable (Manchester) agree on this point. Let me say again, I totally disagree with attacking the police, but I totally agree with resisting this proposed legislation by any peaceful means. Including disruption. Hopefully this appalling undemocratic proposal will be suitably amended at committee stage and these clauses deleted. Perhaps the police and the CPS can then have a look at themselves and work out why so many women are being attacked in their thousands with no resulting prosecutions.

I mean, whilst I don’t agree what’s happened at Bridewell in the aftermath, the initial protest is for good reason, the new protest bill pushes us towards authoritarianism, it wouldn’t look out of place in China or North Korea. So if only 1 person contracts and then dies of Corona virus as a result of either attending this protest or it was passed on to someone who didn’t even go, the protest would have been OK in your view?

This bill isn’t about banning protest per se, only about having more control to prevent disgraceful scenes like we witnessed recently from Reclaim the Streets, BLM etc etc. All designed to fracture society and eventually topple an elected government. A peaceful protest is just that, it allows a small minority of the population who feel a certain way to express their views. Why should it be allowed to turn into a rampaging orgy of injury and destruction, usually perpetrated by a mob of hard-core left wing activists intent on redesigning society. If the peaceful protesters can be allowed to have their say and then disperse in an orderly manner, the troublemakers can be isolated and dealt with before they kick off" The biggest mistake the Police made on Sunday was in not having many more officers ready and then wading in and kicking the Sh1t out of the agitators.

Quite right, welcome back. You as a Health Worker condone illegal mass gatherings during a pandemic? Firstly, f**k off with the 'you as a health worker' nonsense. I've done more to protect lives during this pandemic than many and I do not appreciate your ruse. On topic, the right to free speech and peaceful protest is an institutional right in this country, enshrined in British law. I see that as sacred whether I like the consequence of that or not. I don't agree those rights should be removed. I didnt hear many complaining about anti lockdown protests when they agreed with the sentiment so I see your argument as purely politically driven rather than a moral one.

Touched a nerve have I - there’s no ruse, no hidden agenda just a straightforward question which you haven’t answered? Nothing political about the question, it couldn’t be any clearer. Probably not a good idea to tell me or any one to f**k off - you’re setting a great example as a Mod. PM me and let know what your role is in the Health Service - you asked me the question earlier which I openly answered - something you haven’t reciprocated.

I stand by what I said, using my health service status to try and score political points is pretty pathetic imo. I reference it because of the pandemic and I had hoped to share info people on here might find useful. I hadn't mentioned it at all until then. If its going to be used against me I shall not bother anymore. I dont mod here, so if anyone wants to edit my post they can. And no, I won't be telling you anything.

Put aside your ‘health service status’ - do you condone, yes or no a mass illegal protest during a pandemic? The question couldn’t be simpler - and after asking me about my family and it’s linkage to the NHS and me giving you an honest answer you refuse to let me know what you do - ok thanks for that. BTW point me to any ‘political’ post I’ve made in this thread - or is it just your perception that as I’m openly disgusted by this protest that I’m a “flag waving Tory” and not just a straightforward law abiding citizen of this City.
