We need to stop sacking managers and accept that the summer recruitment has left us in this predicament.
let’s give Joey ten games at least into next season and see how he gets on.

It’s hard to know how good or bad Barton is. Look at the squad he has to work with.

I don’t get all this 10 game nonsense He’s signed a 2 and half year contract, if we are serious about stability and progress we simply cannot afford to chop every 10 bloody games! My bigger fear is Barton turning away if a better offer nearer to home comes up. Listen carefully to his interview, again specifically slating the club and the way it’s been run. He’s right of course, but in my mind he’s distancing himself from this mess so he can move on if necessary Hope I’m wrong as the thought of yet another manager coming in to an unknown squad could spell disaster.

Then the title should read in or out not just out don't you think??? I locked your thread, it was an in the heat of the moment decision based on the fact that this kind of discussion was already being had in this thread and we didn’t really want loads of duplicate Barton threads. I unlocked it about 15 or so minutes after when I realised it probably looked bad that a Barton out thread was unlocked and a Barton in thread was locked, that wasn’t really the intention at all. We welcome the input of people who hold both views. So my apologies. I’m Spartacus

Yep, there it is - first official thread calling for his head. Terrible appointment - one season wonder. Done nothing but moan and slate everyone. Somehow, against all the odds, has made us worse!!!! Had a week on the training ground this week and he's lowered the standard of the players by another 3 to 4 divisions. Put and end to this madness. BARTON OUT! Edit: Perhaps silly to assume we spent it training actually. Maybe we were watching more YouTube montages or getting psychologists in to... make us worse. Give over. We have a sh** squad, end of discussion. I'm not the biggest fan of Barton but firing another manager is not the right thing to do. We're down, give him a shot in L2.

Do you think it was “let” or “instructed”? Probably a bit of both. The thing is i don't want to watch a team that has been put together with a load of youngsters like Garners team , which if any good will be brought on to be flogged to a higher league club. I want us to build a balanced side that can take us forward to the next level, signing youngsters we can sell on like the board wanted will leave us always in the lower leagues .

We played well once we got Tutonda out of defence. Barton made a mistake there but I see his logic, get Leahy further up the pitch. It backfired - Tutonda was shocking, but once we made the switch we played well for 80 minutes. The problem is we're a sh** team on the whole, surely by now every one of us knows that we're in this position because the players aren't good enough.
At this point idk how anyone can blame the manager. We've had 3 this season and none of them have been able to get this dross of a squad scoring and winning games. I think the only manager we can fairly blame is Garner for having a say in the recruitment last summer.
We need to stop firing managers every 5 minutes, rebuild in the summer (again) and trust Barton can give it a good go trying to get us back up.

It’s a fair point and I agree. Just think there was a lot of talk about Waels sustainable club plan to bring youngsters through and sell on whisky reducing the wage bill and age of the squad. No Wael has come out and taken responsibility for the clubs problems. Maybe he realises his errors but if the parameters for signing players was age, sell on value and low wages I don’t think the manager in charge would have made a lot of difference. It seems like TW has that view

Gives me early DC vibes in all honesty. Through what justification given his history and lack of transfer window and top signings at Fleetwood should we not keep him on for next season?

He will turn us around the squad is the problem, we are down and he will get rid of most of them, either out of contract or the Everton mafia will freeze them out.

True. My point is you don’t sack Barton after 10 games next season? Say we start really poorly, and are 3rd bottom after 10-15 games. Add the games from this season and will fans be baying for his head? Or overall do we think he deserves to be given longer?

Joey and Clint must stay. 2 managers can’t sort Tommy and Garners bull$hit out. Would have loved joey to have Ben’s opportunity last summer. We would not be where we are. Appropriately we put all our eggs in 1 basket with Ben and Tommy’s revolution.

Could have sacked 20 managers this season and it still wouldn’t hide the fact that this team simply isn’t good enough at this level.
When you are down at the bottom and the decisions go against you and you make mistakes on the pitch and get punished for it then the writing is on the wall.
I say give the bloke a chance to build his own team whether that is in League One or League Two.
