Not really, but I presume you knew this as well as the relevant Acts which state funding sources, especially 1908 and 1911. Will you be foregoing your entitlement in protest? Impossible to say what will be around by the time we retire. Even personal pensions are stagnant at the moment, e.g. my current one with a new employer has profits of less than £100 since August and I pay in quite a lot. I don't get the argument of stating silly hypocrisies... Yes, the NHS is partly funded by selling weapons to Saudi Arabia. The phone I'm using has precious minerals that people are killed for in Africa. You can choose to ignore them, fine, but for anything to change at all discussion is needed. I would suggest that we are all guilty of double standards in some way or another so with you there. Pensions is a field I am well aware of, my point though is you asserted the money for those welfare benefits came from the "British Empire....exploiting the third world". That is only the case in a very segued argument. The first pensions and social security benefits were funded through taxation, including the establishment of National Insurance.

Yeah this could be an infinity argument I think... so, to cap it I'll say - it's an interesting part of history no matter how you look at it.

What a strange dialogue ! X Welcome to General Chat. Get out now, while you still can. I did, months ago, and I've never been back. Ever.

The BBC’s wall-to-wall coverage of Prince Philip’s death has become the most complained-about moment in British television history.
At least 110,994 people have contacted the BBC to express their displeasure at the decision to turn most of the corporation’s TV channels and radio stations over to rolling tributes to the Queen’s husband.
Not all the complaints were about the extent of the BBC’s coverage. Almost 400 people wrote in to complain that Prince Andrew had featured despite his association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and refusal to answer questions posed by the FBI.

Complaining about missing Eastenders or Masterchef is hilarious. Although I too thought the BBC descended into propaganda, cancelling all programnes across all channels and wheeling out some barely coherent people reciting ad nauseum on Philip's "sense of humour" was very North Korean and frankly deeply embarrassing for a modern developed democracy. The funniest one was Lord Soames, who was pompous enough in his prime (did he ever have a "prime"? Shouting at the Today Programme interviewer "I cant hear you" I cried with laughter, because that just about summed it up. Our Government cant hear us.

Shame his son hasn’t died yet. The freak had the audacity to do an interview with the BBC. Only interview ‘it’ should be doing is one with the FBI. And if I was the BBC, I wouldn’t be giving him a platform after Jimmy Savile...
I have edited this post for potentially libellous comments to protect the poster and the forum.

Morning Les,agree it did get a bit tiresome, sort of the Beeb had prepared for this for years and we're going to run it come what may ,guess you have to try to see through all the flim flam to get an idea of the man etc, what's for certain I am sure the coverage was something he would not have wanted. What amazes me is where do they get all these "insiders" from who talk absolute rubbish.

On a personal note I lost my wife of 45 years in 2017 so can very much empathise with the emotions Elizabeth must be feeling right now. Apparently she is due to deliver the Queens speech in May in Parliament (I think I heard that correctly) For gods sake dont ask her to do that, not at this point in time. Republican or not that doesnt sit right.

I empathise with you Les it's a massive void which you cannot fill,I lost my Dad and 63yr old brother in 2016 within 3 months of each other,Dad totally expected, brother marathon runner died with a massive heart attack whilst out cycling,it's taken me 3 years to come to terms with it. Never easy at all and you can't explain to anyone what it's like. Agree with you should get Charlie boy to do it but my guess is she is very stoic and will carry on.

Clive & Les (hope you don't mind me using your respective names) can I please pass on my sincere condolences to you both in respect of your respective losses. It doesn't matter if it were yesterday or years ago I'm sure your sense of loss is still as great to this day. I agree with the comment that you can't explain to anyone what it's like, my wife has been saying that for years. Before we were together but working together she lost her father in 2000. He was aged just 56 (my age this July) and died of a heart attack. She still to this day has never got over it. From a selfish point of view I feel blessed I still have both my parents and haven't experienced the grief of loss. I appreciate your comments (no doubt you've guessed I'm a royalist) concerning the Queen and her loss. I 100% agree that the Queens speech at this time should be passed down to Charles to do. However I'm sure she will carry on and prefer to be seen doing it with that "British stiff upper lip"

I noticed Jeremy Vine tried making Prince Phillip's funeral into a 'Race' issue on his show on Channel 5.
Christ.

Calvin Robinson from the right wing policy exchange think tank ( funded by who? ) has very similar views on most subjects Gastafari comments on . Just an observation and I’m passing no comment.

Just pointing out the absurdity.
What has the 30 or so people at a restricted funeral being 'White' got to do with anything?
Just like the BBC 'Diversity' chief complaining that Luther isn't seen eating Saltfish Patty's(Even though Idris Elba is of Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian descent), isn't seen to have Black friends and has a 'White' love interest.
It is amusing 😄
