I wonder if the supporters of the so called big six have been consulted. Then again, do these clubs even need supporters as most their wealth will come from TV deals. Wasn’t this proved recently when it shown that a certain number of clubs would make a profit without any fans at games. Tv money, naming rights and merchandising make them all they need I certainly don’t think they need local fans any more. For merchandising and those willing to pay subscriptions to watch, they have huge global fanbases now (Far East etc.). Even if they need fans in the ground, I bet clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal could fill their stadiums with tourists (... now I think about it, we could do the same - sell it as a visit to ancient ruins!).

The "Big 6" owners will never be satisfied until they have done away with all forms of competition and threats to their elite status. It's absolutely disgraceful and infuriating. I've not really followed the Prem much this year, but news like this, coupled with the demise of the Gas, and I'm feeling more disenfranchised with football than I have ever felt before. Quite a big American influence in this - they don’t like promotion/relegation. Is it only Man City in our ‘big six’ that don’t have American owners? I wonder what Bayern Munich think as a genuine super club? The German model of club ownership seems to be ruling them out of being part and presumably PSG have been squeezed out by the PL, La Liga and Serie A giants.

Any players participating will not be allowed to represent their countries in world cups. With the money they can earn, i suspect quite a few wont care. This is what happens when clubs become corporations, just a juggernaut of money, the Chinese will lap it up, and we can have a chuckle at the fans of the 6 who play the same games over and over with few obtainable away trips. That first bit, about playing for your Country, that speculation or something you've heard?

I Will see if i can find it later, although i suspect that all this is so fast moving that given 24 hrs it will all be different.

"As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams." I can't understand the big 6's thinking as it seems the proposal is only for midweek fixtures, I assume to replace the Champions League games but they'll then be banned from the Premiership so will have no weekend games. Pretty sure I'd get bored if I was a Man U etc fan just watching European games with no domestic games apart from when they play another big 6 side, plus no away games unless you were prepared to fly to Italy etc.

Let the six elite clubs join the European League, our domestic football be so much better without them. Imagine the inflated prices to watch such games! I detest the word "premiere" league. What was wrong with the old first division? So called elite division with unaffordable prices. This is football's version of Kerry Packer and look how that turned out,any players involved will no longer be able to play for their respective Country's. Gary Neville has had a real rant about it and I agree with him that this needs to be stamped on Now as it's pure greed, disgusting.

Honestly, I'd love to just say let them go and we can live without the idiots.
But unfortunately, you know SkySports are probably licking their lips in excitement over this and the media will follow

That wouldn't happen though. I'd love to see everyone get moved up 6 places at end of the season. Bring 6 National League sides up to League 2 and permanently shut the door on all of them.

Problem is I'd guess 60% of PL fans follow the top 6. Shut them out and the media will follow the big clubs

Wow ,well said Gary Neville! kind of makes you glad you support Rovers and are not part of the circus that is the game at the top ,does it not? for all our woes this season rather that than become part of that culture!

Six clubs have now signed up to the breakaway Bristol And District Superleague. Rovers, City, Forest Green, Mangotsfield Utd, Yate Town and Joe`s Bakery. The main sticking point, is Rovers insistence on there being no relegation.

I hear you in the "all forms of competition", because my take on this is basically an Exhibition league. Like when retired boxers box for no real result.. mega rich superstars who don't want to injure themselves can just have a nice little kick around where they know the results don't matter, but the world is watching and their pay cheques are growing!

Very passionate and couldn't agree with him more. However I hope that he doesn't then take a job commentating on this super league if it were to happen.

Looks like it's happening: "Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham are among 12 clubs who have agreed to join a new European Super League. In a seismic move for European football, the Premier League clubs will join Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus." www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56795811"Twelve of Europe's leading football clubs have agreed to establish a Super League, it has been announced. A statement said: "AC Milan, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined as Founding Clubs.
