My team would be: ...............Pope TAA..Stones...Maguire..Shaw .........Rice..Henderson Sancho....Mount...Foden ...............Kane.......... I’d definitely go with the same formation. Pickford didn’t start the season too well but has been very solid recently. I think Pope is currently injured and has made some big mistakes this season (as has Henderson) but because they are not England number 1 they don’t get the same level of scrutiny. Pickford has had massive moments for England and never really let us down - I’d certainly rather him than Frances’s keeper who always looks an accident waiting to happen. My team would be, .....Pickford TAA...Stones...Maguire...Shaw .....Mount/Bellingham..& Rice ...Foden...Grealish...Sterling .............Kane.......... Sorry but Bellingham shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11 😂

Looks good mate, I originally had Rice next to Henderson but thought I just couldn't leave Mount out. Was also thinking Stones, but the guy is a calamity. Always a mistake to give away a goal in there Stones has had a great 12 months, signs of maturing as a footballer, deserves that start imo. Walker is interesting one, not seen him in a back four and would tend to say it could be too much of risk going into a major tournament to experiment. Rice absolutely has to be in, such an accomplished footballer for a young player. Would suit a 4-2-3-1 formation too, our best midfielder currently IMO. Additionally it frees mount for a more attacking role. Yeah true Walker has played in more of a back 3, but I think he's versatile. I just don't like Stones for England - every time we play a good team he seems to gift a goal. I don't actually know enough about Rice, looks good on paper but I haven't seen enough of him as I haven't seen too much PL football this season.

Wouldn’t start him in front of Rice, Mount or Henderson but really hope he gets a lot of minutes and wouldn’t surprised to see him play a big role of one of them gets injured.

I did not and he looked good when he came on for England earlier this year, but there is absolutely no chance with the team we have that a 17 year old with 29 games in the Bundesliga and 2 England caps should be in the first 11.

In my opinion it shouldn’t matter about age but about ability. I mean Bellingham has regularly featured in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues. Would still fancy the Mount/Henderson duo ahead of him but if Henderson’s unfit or someone gets injured, I’d personally have no qualms about putting Bellingham in there.

Big tournament for Grealish to put him in the shop window for bigger clubs, I think he’s got the most assists out of any Prem midfielder this year. I expect Sterling will have a point to prove after being on the bench for City a bit this season.

He’s been superb for Dortmund, especially in big Champions League games when he’s outperformed more experienced top level players. He’s comfortable holding and going forward and is intelligent beyond his years. I wouldn’t even have Henderson in the squad - he’s played hardly any football in the past 6 months. Of the midfielders who should be nowhere near the starting 11 I’d say Phillips and Ward-Prowse stand out a mile.

If Pele was English he’d have been playing in the Smiths Crisps England v Scotland schoolboy match at Wembley instead of scoring two goals in a World Cup final at the age of 17. I don’t get the obsession with age. If you’re good enough you’re old enough.

No based on his lack of experience outside of the championship, in the champions league and internationals. He has only started 19 games in all competitions, we have far more experienced and better players in the squad. Far too many times have we thrown youngsters into the first team and destroyed them. Squad player sure, but starting 11? Madness.

I can’t really think of any tbh. Putting a totally unfit Henderson in would be madness, as would playing Ward-Prowse or Phillips who are way short of top international quality.

The ball sticks to him. He looks a real player for the future. Curtis Jones is similar. Both have great technical ability but are not quite ready.

Yes, I’d go for the same but it would be Mount not Bellingham and it would depend who we play. In the harder matches I’d probably go for Henderson and Rice anchoring the midfield and choose Mount or Grealish, probably Mount. Now you can put the rest of the squad on the bench it gives managers a much greater chance to change things if needed. UTG!

The likes of Phillips and Ward-Prowse are unlikely to improve much now so if Bellingham is already performing to a higher standard than them there is no reason to hold him back. Some players are just suited to international football and I think Bellingham falls into that bracket. I think we’re blessed with talent in all areas of the pitch with so many quality young players now being produced by the clubs - just wish some stand out centre half’s would come through like Ferdinand, Terry, King etc.....

I’d always thought of him as a player in the 2 or 3 positions behind and wide of a striker but he’s bought so much more to his game in the past six months. He seems an intelligent player and although by no means a ‘holding midfielder’ he could certainly play a deeper role alongside a Rice type and will work his socks off and get a foot in whilst also picking passes from deep. We’ve got some really good options and I just hope Southgate doesn’t just go all conservative and pick safety first options like Henderson, Phillips and Ward-Prowse...etc. I’d really like us to go out and try and win a tournament not just try and stay in games and hope to muddle our way through. We’ve already wasted one great opportunity at the last World Cup.

Pickford
Walker Stones Maguire Shaw
Mount Rice Grealish
Sancho Kane Foden
This is assuming everyone is 100% fit & raring to go.

Tom Lockyer not in welsh squad, don't know how his season went with Luton, as he was in and around welsh squad last year?
